I LOVE acerbic quotes. [obviously] I do calligraphy of the best ones and frame them. Hang them about at random for inspiration.

I used to have a quote of the day calendar that was full of them. I got one each year until they quit making them. but I saved all the quotes. The best part is seeing who actually said something.

Another favourite source is "the Portable Curmudgeon" compiled by Jon Winokur [New American Library, 1987] also published in Canada. There's a whole bunch 'Curmudgeon' titles, but the first one is my favorite.

What all this proved to me was that my favourite, best, and most versitile and prolific wit was without a doubt, Oscar Wilde.

Cool, I sahll have to try and track down a copy of it. Might be a good excuse to finally try out Amazon! I too love the art of the witty comeback, and among my friends it is one of the few sports we practice! smiley - smiley
