I've only read the title and the first sentence, but may I suggest you amend the title to "Super Furry Animals - the Band" as I was expecting something quite different

Thank you very much for your kind words.
I'm from North Wales and Tourist's always used to ask me to say Llanfairpwllgwyn... out loud. The follow-up was always "So what does it mean?" which I never could remember.

Gareth Hacking Posted Sep 9, 2006
Thanks for the suggestion. I've now made the alteration.

Sho - employed again! Posted Sep 10, 2006
wow, that's comprehensive - I guess it's been a labour of love?
There are a few typos and stray apostrophies - I'll try and catch them in a sec.
First can I suggest some links?
Intro
A580303 - Wales
A348824 - Dogs
A12645939 - The Loss of Indigenous Languages - the Sociological Effects
The Members
A9370613 - Pembrokshire, Wales, UK
A280919 - Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales, UK
(poop, I'm running out of time..)
er... you coud also link to Rhys Ifans (if there's a BBC site that would be good)
I'm not the only one here who is a great fan of (relevant) links - and if you can link to other h2g2 entries (edited only, I'm afraid) that's all the better.
Also, although I'd already heard of them - I have no idea how they sound. Are they metal? hip-hop? folk? (much as I hate comparisons, when I try new bands a little comparison helps me a lot)

Now that I've given this a proper read-through, I have more suggestions for you:
McGee reportedly requested that the band sing more songs in English - only to be told that every song in that night's set had been. >> I don't know what they sound like, but this is very descriptive.
What is NME?
bright blue tank >> I'm assuming this is a military-style tank, not the kind that holds water. Correct? Also, while it may be pictured on the single released where you live, if it was released internationally it's quite possible that different locations (or even later releases) will have different cover art.
the internationally feted creator for his Monsterism creations. >> is there a better way to say this? Creator of creations sounds redundant.
much to Gruff's confusion as he collected the award >> was he confused? or was he astonished?
with fans from these countries word-perfect on the Welsh songs. >> what does this mean?
the band released the single Juxtaposed With U too much publicity. >> this doesn't make sense, is there something missing?
which would regularly appear during the bands gigs during the encores. >> could this be reworded to avoid using 'during' twice? (which would later make regular appearances onstage duing the band's encores. (suggestion))
This followed the August of the same year by the group's 7th studio album >> missing some bits there: This was followed in August of the same year by the group's 7th studio album
Some typos:
--a couple of Fuzzy Logic's song >> songs
--The band first big success >> band's
--signified a chance of direction >> change
--number 8 >> number eight (numbers less than 10 should be spelled out)
--Released in May The Ice Hockey Hair EP was followed by a B-sides and rarities album called Out Spaced was in November; >> (grammar) Released in May, The Ice Hockey Hair EP was followed by a B-sides and rarities album called Out Spaced in November;
--they follow this with a US and UK tour >> followed
--English language pop song didn't get played >> songs
--contained video's >> videos
--reaching number 1 >> number one
--A Greatest Hits album >> greatest hits
--The Man Don?t Give A F___ >> Don't (on the greatest hits part)
--the band?s 2002 tour >> band's
--the bands final release >> band's
And I agree with Sho on wanting an idea of what their sound is. Comparisons would be helpful, but comparing them to other groups that may not be interationally known - or if they have a truly unique sound - may not be helpful. I haven't checked your links, do any of them go to a site that would offer audio samples?
Very nice job

Good entry
maybe you could add a footnote saying what (deepbreath) Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwllantysilio-gogogoch means or at least saying thats it's the worlds longest railway station name.
and maybe a link to the worlds longest URL

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been away for the past few days and I've got a busy weekend planned but I'll do my best to get the updates done fairly sharpish early next week.

Right, I've got around to making all (ok, most) of the suggested changes and a fair few extra ones. Just to answer your question Milos, there are a number of audio samples featured in the web links.
http://www.ringsaroundtheworld.co.uk/clips.htm has song and video clips
http://www.mwng.co.uk/7frame.htm has a mp3 of Ysbeidiau Heulog available for download
http://www.placidcasual.com/gruff/ features 60-second clips of each song on the Yr Atal Genhedlaeth album
Any other suggestions?

Hi Gareth!
A good Entry!
A few points to note though:
Dates in hootoo and written as 6 September, 2006... you will have to change the birthdates that you have listed into this format.
There are a number of stories regarding the origins of the bands name. -->band's
The band first big success -->band's
The song would become the bands anthem -->band's
one of the most exciting and innovative band's -->bands
They also sponsored Cardiff City Football Club this year--> is this 2006 or 1999? A little unclear here.
market a Welsh language album, decided to decided to release --> remove one 'decided to'
successful release in the US and Japanese -->Japan
Later singles from the album Drawing Rings Around The World and It's Not The End Of The World? --> is this 2 albums or one?
which would regularly appearances onstage duing the band's encores -->which would regularly make appearances onstage during
I am a little worried that the "present day" section will date in time. Is there a way of changing it so that it will not date as easily?
Also, in line with hootoo guidelines, could you change the " " to ' '?

Thank you MiniMy
I've made all the alteration's you suggested. I've also re-written the "present day" section and retitled it " Later Life" in keeping with the age related Header's I've used so far.

Couple more...
"...followed by their second album Radiator in August." > their second album with Creation, Radiator, in August. (Unless I've lost count it was actually their 4th album overall, right?)
"...the Ice Hockey Hair EP was followed by a B-sides and rarities album called Out Spaced was in November;" > album called Out Spaced in November.

Gareth Hacking Posted Oct 13, 2006
Thanks again Milos,
I've altered the text accordingly but to clarify, Radiator was their second album overall. I think you're counting EP releases as albums, unless you know something that I don't. I found a wikipedia entry on the difference here:

Okay, I get it now. I was confused by "Whilst with Ankst, SFA released 2 records...", not realising that it went on to say they were EPs. When I was growing up, a record *was* an album

It's a fair point. I'll re-phrase that part to make it clearer.

Bore da, this is looking good. A very good entry on a great band. It's nearly there - give us a shout here when you've re-phrased that sentence and when you're happy with it to go.
