Wow. Seriously - wow. Reading this made me glad I logged on today.

'Ad populum' - so, of course, even if hundreds of researchers post to this thread telling you how excellent the entry is, that doesn't prove that it is excellent.

But it is excellent.

I agree with all the other voters, good job, very comprehensive. Sadly, the majority of American political discourse seems to consist of such tactics - pandering, posturing, pork-snorting politicians.

Yes I think its great! It pretty much sums up the Bush administation..

Good entry indeed. Good too to have so many illustrations of fallacies. And to think that we constantly live with them!
But some observations with regard to presenting the material.
Basic fallacies, as I think, appear to fall into two categories: inductive fallacies (like the example with warming and Antarctica,also Ad Hominem etc), which are easier to crack, and deductive fallacies(mistakes and reasoning and initial postulates)(post hoc ergo propter hog, false conclusions etc.)- these are harder to detect since one has to examine basic premises of statements.
Also,in respect of social matters, he is right who has the most clout and authority. And in respect of natural truth,God, I believe, will make his cause known and will make it plain in the end.
The funniest mistake in reasoning I have encountered of late was in a law draft: "the purpose of this proposal is to design a structured document,clear and pertinent to most of its users". A worthy aim indeed...
