My daughter's puberty

Thanks for advice/sympathies, etc.
Fortunately, Mair hates pop music (she asks me to turn the noise down) and uses her hi-fi to play audio cassettes (Hitch Hiker's Guide/Lord of the Rings/Red Dwarf/Roddy Doyle/Narnia and other stuff). I expect this will all change when she finds a group or type of music that she likes...

Hmm... I listen to everything... I actually hate the music my mother listens to... I ask HER to turn it down... she's into dance music, like the kind out now? If I here her sing to Backstreet Boys one more time!

I do not sing as everytime I do, someone always says "Did you say something?"......There was this time when I was lying on the sofa with the headphones on, singing away (tunlessly of course) and my other half had his friend who was on the phone listen to me. They had a good laugh at my expence! However, I do prance around a lot and set the dogs of barking which draws severe looks of consternation from the rest of the family! (I think they're hiding a straight jacket just in case...)

I hate the music my roommate listens to. Well, most of it. At the moment he's playing Don McLean, American Pie, which I quite like. I listen to my dad's music and he listens to the music I listen to. My younger brother (15 yrs old) is forever in search of his next musical obsession. At the moment it's Reggea (he's thinking of converting to the Rastafarian faith), but he still listens to Ska and Swing occasionally.

I love alternative... I couldn't live without it... especially Shirley Manson

I enjoy most music (rock/classical/opera/jazz/blues/pop/reggae). My husband, John is a music "snob" who tells me that most of my favourite singers are out of key so I can't play most of my "lightweight" stuff when he's around and when he isn't, he's in bed with a migraine so I can't play it loud! Headphones aren't quite the same somehow...(Sob!)

Tell him that they're in key, they just aren't classically trained. John Lennon would probably drive him crazy, but he's always in key. Mick Jagger is usually delightfully off key. Lou Reed is always flat. But most popular singers are usually on key.

Thanks, but I don't think it'd work..... He knows I'm tone deaf and so can't bluff (he's played different notes on his guitar and I can't tell the difference between some of them). As it happens, he loves the Beatles, some Stones, Aerosmith etc as "they have talent"! Its alright - I don't mind coz I luv 'im to bits and realise he's probably right...
Lou Reed - gosh! I bought "Transformer" back in, ooohh must be 1972 and have treasured it ever since. I have two other LPs of Lou Reed that I bought in the early 70's plus all the old Bowie stuff and some Tangerine Dream. I have replaced some of them with CDs but have hung on to my old record collection.

Well, I don't know how you get from puberty to music, OK I'm lazy and can't be bothered to read ALL the conversation, but TANGERINE DREAM? I'll never forget the time I saw them live in Nottingham in 19...erm, I forget.
Think I'll go blow the dust off my vinyl and close my eyes for half an hour of Zeit, or maybe Alpha Centauri.

Well, I sort of digressed which is something I excell at (just ask my hubby).
Tangerine Dream! Gosh! I bought that was when I was fourteen in 1971 I think.... Sort of something to do with puberty but mine and not Mair's (my daughter's).
