There's No Place Like Home

Blimey, it's good to be back home again.

Having spent the last several days or so visiting friends and relations, I am thoroughly pleased to back in my own home and free to not change out of my pyjamas for days on end. Aah, the luxury...

Ah, yes... to spend the whole day in one's pajamas *sigh*

Well, that's certainly what _my_ weekends are all about. smiley - smiley

Whilst it was good to see friends and family, by the end of it I desperately wanted to be back in my own home - just loads of little things I missed (including my computer - oops, bit of a geek on the quiet). And the freedom to do whatever I wish whenever I wish - and knowing where everything (or most things) are! The joys of knowing how to use everything!

Back to work tomorrow though - ouch. Not quite used to getting up in the morning yet. I think it shall be a very long day.

I had immense difficulty getting my hours adjusted back to work hours. Cripes, by the end of my holiday, I was almost on _your_ time. smiley - smiley

Crikey, Monday morning 7.30... well, I'm awake and almost prepared to face the outside world. What with my sick leave and then holiday I have hardly been in work for about a month, so I am expecting today to be very hard work (massive understatement smiley - smiley ).

I think I shall try and go swimming at lunch time. That tends to sort me out a bit if the day is feeling a bit hectic. Oh well, here goes...

Monday 20.45

well, that was fairly painless. Although I am pretty tired now, today went really well - it doesn't feel as if I've been away for pretty much a month (blimey that sounds scary). Early night tonight though... not sure if I can make it through the whole week with this perky spirit smiley - smiley

Perhaps you could keep up your perky spirit with the aid of some perky spirits. smiley - smiley

Glad to hear the day went OK for you. No dead bugs or anything? smiley - smiley

The weevils will be pleased to know there were no dead bugs involved at all. (Just lots of pictures of boats this week... lots and lots of boats. These all considerably more modern than the Bronze Age one, but still nothing much more modern than the 1970s.)

And my stirling work of tidying up my desk before the holiday had been to no avail as during my absence it had been used as a general dumping ground for absolutely everything. Nice smiley - smiley

And a booze-free day (apart from a small beer for a night-cap)!

That's kind of different from where I work. When someone here goes on vacation, they come back to find out someone has taken their chair, their keyboard, their computer, and their monitor. Also, their desk is covered in either cookie crumbs or crisp fragments and there's usually two or three empty (or half-empty) cans of pop sitting there as well.

Nobody owns up to being responsible, of course. smiley - smiley

Kensington says that dead bugs don't really bother him, as long as they're not weevils.

All my furniture and accoutrements were present and correct thankfully.

I had a lovely satisfying day at work yesterday (Tuesday) but was absolutely shattered, so my apologies for the delayed reply. Not sure how I am going to last a whole week smiley - smiley

Now that the boat gallery is up and running, we can all return to our normal jobs - mine being working on the collection database, work I enjoy immensely, but not the most challenging (at times), so it was good to plod steadily through some fairly straightforward stuff.

Good to be back into the old routine smiley - smiley

I haven't had the best of weeks. Bit of a contract dispute going on at work right now. I'm fairly stressing out over it. Vancouver's not like Silicon Valley, where if you get disgruntled or exploited you simply quit and walk next door to go work for the next business along the road. The stress is starting to take its toll on me now - odd pains, feeling not quite well all the time. Typical stress-related problems...

Can't wait 'til this is all sorted out and over with.

Sorry to hear things are not all sweetness and light in the workplace - sounds pretty miserable smiley - sadface Hope things are worked out to your benefit soon.

I have become addicted to chocolate covered raisins.

Good choice. I always tend to go for popcorn at the cinema. Chocolate covered raisins alwyas seemed a bit decadent. However, in the past 2 days I have eaten buckets of the stuff whilst at work. Must stop, I guess, they are positively addictive (has this ever been scientifically investigated - I think we should be told)

I know. You can't stop. When I watch hockey games, I usually get a box of Bridge Mixture. Do you have Bridge Mixture over there?

I have absolutely no idea what Bridge Mixture is - it sounds like an old-fashioned decongestant smiley - smiley

I believe the name originates from the card game Bridge. Basically it like chocolate covered raisins, except that it's a random mix of various chocolate covered things, like jellies, mint, raisins, caramels, etc. Mmmm...

yes, that reminds me of the game Bridge instantly - how silly of me not to work that out smiley - winkeye
