And what a week it's been. Desperately pleased it is over. A bottle of wine may be in order.... Um, red or white? What do you think?

If it's dark and cold out, and you have a fireplace, then I suggest red wine, or even mulled wine, if you prefer.
Interestingly enough, I got the book published by The Onion called "Our Dumb Century", and it's bloody hilarious. There's an issue in there from 1903 with a headline 'South Covered In Weevils' (I'm not kidding - I blinked twice when I saw it). It says that there are so many weevils devouring cotton crops in the South that "Weevil-Gin" has been created as a means of dealing with the voracious little critters. Man, that is one funny book. Ever read the Onion? http:www.theonion.com
Oh, and that's four points for me.

Thank you for the suggestions - I think I shall try and find your weevil frappee recipe instead and try that one
(I have no fireplace, but your response was fairly accurate - red wine was the wine of choice - the wine was not cold enough - and mulling is a little premature at this time of the year - it's only autumnhere, which in the south of England is quite mild - we don't mull till December)
(as an aside - don't you just love mulled wine. Have you ever had Gluhwein?)

Wait a minute. I don't have a recipe for weevil frappe. I think it was mulled weevils.
You're right, it's a bit early for mulling, but it's so bloody cold, rainy and windy outside my apartment (flat?) right now, that I'm tempted to mull.
Haven't tried Gluhwein. I generally don't like muled wine unless the conditions are _just_ right. And that means a cold dark night and a fireplace. And company, of course.

yes, I laughed at 'muled wine' as well. And good company as an accompaniment (ooh that looks wrong) to any wine is a benefit - but virtual company can be acceptable. Cheers.

Not having any alcohol in the house, I have a root beer. Plus it's only 6:00pm here. Cheers *tink*

And, yes, I am familiar with the Onion - although I don't use it as cheap reasons to mention weevils
- oops, maybe I do, after all .
(Very funny it is .. although I don't check it very regularly. I really enjoyed something they had up a few months ago about Bill Gates' d&d type scores - can't remember the fancy name for this sort of thing)

Well, it was striking because I only noticed that particular story long after all this "W-word" stuff began. I started laughing before I even started reading it.
Key: Complain about this post
