So, enough people voted BNP for them to get two seats in Europe. Shameful.
There's a petition: http://action.hopenothate.org.uk/page/s/notinmyname
There are protests: http://www.uaf.org.uk/news.asp?choice=90610
There are British fascists in European politics.

The BNP had less votes this time than last time but not enough people voted for the other parties and their share of the vote went up.

At least a couple of the bigoted basts will be spending more time out of the country!
I'm seriously thinking of starting a "U-vote none of the above" party. So that it would be at the bottom of the ballot, we need a lot of candidate names begining with; U, V, X, Y & Z. But also no real candidates.
I love the idea that on election broadcast they would be saying, "most of the seats will be empty because U-vote Not-A have an overall majority!"

It's a sad indictment of human nature to know that there have been 2 BNP members elected, true; but what you have to realise is that they were voted for *democaratically*
I'm not saying those voters were right Roy; I loathe what they stand for, with a passion. But what I am saying is that democracy is a better option than trying to stifle those buggers; if we tried to ban them actively, we'd be no better than the credo they are attempting to endorse.
To paraphrase a slogan I agree with whole heartedly: "Some people might be Facist; get used to it"
It doesn't mean you have to like or approve of them, let alone support them in any way shape or form - but I don't think they should be banned or indeed, persecuted, either. And that goes for every man jack of us.
And in truth, give the BNP buggers enough rope they'll hang themselves comprehensively. Give them space to make complete A@@eholes of themselves all by themselves. Eventually, even the really hard of thinking will get the hang of things.

EC, I'm with you. Democracy states everyone has a right to a voice, irrespective of political bent...
In fact, I wish the BNP had a higher profile, just to show the reason why not to vote for them.
But forget Germany in 1933 at your peril!
Read the 'true' history of that period, including 'Mein Kampf!'
Who would not have voted then? And I am not promoting Fascism, but few have read about 'All political Parties!'
I'll depart now!

*sigh
Can anyone remember who said famously something like "I deplore what you are saying; but will defend to the death your right to say it."?
I suppose that's the definition of democracy.
Le Pen nearly got elected in France some time back, mainly because of the lefties adopting a "don't vote, it only encourages them" stance, hence the left & moderates got low vote count so when the 2nd round came along, there was litle choice but to vote for moderate but rightist bloke; or endure Le Pen; or flee the country.
So; last time around, the Left were very active politically & managed to get many seats going to the Green Party

Thing is, the BNP were democratically elected on the back of a bunch of lies, lies in the media about immigration/housing/jobs etc which they played to and lies about their own intent.
