I think "writing rubbish" is a tried and tested technique for lyricists as a starting point.
Didn't "Yesterday" start off as "scrambled eggs", and I heard this week that Sting wrote "Walking on the Moon" while drunk in a hotel room, and having got the bass line he was singing "Walking round my room"

I try the wandering around the room scat-singing/stream of consciousness thing but always end up with serious stuff that I just can't take seriously!
I'm currently trying to write an industrial-influenced tune in 5/4, which has to be some sort of sign of a masochistic tendency.

Tchah! Try writing 7/8 jungle. Did I notice something in the way of a challenge of the "write a better weird time signature tune then me" ilk on a 2legs journal the other day?
You're on. I like comical mess.
Are you still off work? Fancy another crack at that tune or a try at something else collaborative?
The home sweet home consensus is that a Socket gig would be rad. It would be in august, probably the first Friday or Saturday. We'll put you up and feed you with drugs and beer and possibly even food but you'll need to sort your own travel. You'd get a cut of the door which'll be about fifty quid after the promo and paying off'f the hordes of blood thirsty VJs.
My typing is getting better but my use of apostrophes is getting unmanagable.

I've nearly done with the 5/4 thing, though as per it's a tad let down by my vocals!
I'm probably up for a bit of a set but really have no idea how to go about it: my gigging background is rawk, bayby!

Works fine for me, do you mind if I pass it on to some of my friends?
As far as the gigging thing goes, it seems to work fine for such artists as Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Simple Kid to just turn up with laptop, guitar, and voice.

Ooh, hang on, that didn't come out right.
Feel free to share it around.
That's better.
