The flag is a cloth or plastic....it's the beliefs behind it that matter..

Call me a cynic, but doesn't all this have a hint of religious ritual about it? I mean, it's a moderately attractive piece of cloth intended to distinguish a particular military formation from another. Not the Turin Shroud!

Interesting. Would this not cause a contradiction for religious Christians, of whom the USA has many, in that the degree of reverence social norms demand for the Flag might then come under the heading of "graven images, icons, and thou shalt have no other Gods before me"?
