A Conversation for The American Flag

Flags on the Moon

I can accept that it's possible that one of the six flags left on the Moon is still hanging from an approximately upright pole (it could hardly "fly" in no atmosphere), but the filmed evidence suggests that they were actually all blown to the ground by the rocket blast on take-off.

Nicely sums US foreign policy up really doesn't it..

Set something up and then casually blow it to s**t as they take off..

Ha! Yeah, we do have the tendency to be f*****g idiots. Also, the flag (and I still won't beleive we've been to the moon 'til I actually see the damned leftovers) on the moon thing is pretty politically sensitive, anyways.

Says the U.N. Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States
in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space,including
the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies:

outer space is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means;

We all can agree that throughout history, planting a flag on new lands was a claim of ownership.
