A Conversation for Truth
I assure you that truth does exist

And it will be the saviour of us all. I also assure you that enlightenment, knowledge and wisdom exist as well. It is not the knowledge of the truth that discourages, it's the belief that the human race hasn't enough to understand. This is not the case. If you can cram every molecule of the known evolution of the known universe into your brain, I assure you there is enough information there that all that matters can be understood. The nature of the universe produces inescapable laws, truths. It is not mysterious or confusing, it is wonderous and amazing. Perhaps you will look at my website and give me some input. It's just beginning at http://www.angelfire.com/psy/truth/ and I'm trying to get the entire truth into words there. We'll see!
Thanx
The existence of truth

I am much taken with the question and add the following:-
I came across an exchange between Guildenstern and one of the Players in Tom Stoppard’s play, Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
Guildenstern: We only know what we are told and that's very little enough. And for all we know it isn’t even true.
Player: For all anyone knows nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust. Truth is only that which is taken to be true. It is the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it but it doesn’t matter as long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What are your assumptions?
The same can be said of philosophy and faith. We all have a faith and trust even if it is that the driver in front will do as he indicates. What is your philosophy?
What is this life all about? If what the scientists tell us is “true”- whatever truth is - then we are faced with some curious conundrums. Can you live without a thought for the morrow? Do you plan your life as if you will live for ever and live the day as if it is your last? Do you follow the Tallulah Bankhead philosophy of “Life’s a bitch and then we’re dead”!? Or the Paul Newman philosophy exemplified by the quote on his office door ‘If we’ve got a plan, we’re screwed’.
Whatever you do may your life be a success. And what is a success? Success is being able to live with yourself. And how do you do that?
First, know your strengths, enthusiasms and ambitions. Can you fit them to the market or must you make a market for them?
Second, set yourself a target in that market based on your ambitions and try to leave that target open-ended so that when you arrive at the target you have something else to go for. Satisfaction comes from following your enthusiasms.
Third, plan your route, perhaps having several options so that if one fails you have another approach.
Four, follow your plan.
Five, if you see another target which allows you to change your measure of success do not be afraid to change.
Six, accept the consequences on the basis that you made the decisions.
Seven, if you fail, start again at 1.
Remember, life is a game of golf. You can only play the ball from where it lies.
Along the way you may accumulate belongings and friends. If they constrain you you can drop the belongings easily. Friends and family deserve the responsibility they show(ed) you. Foster that responsibility by returning it. After all, you may need them more in the future than at the moment. Do not do business with friends; only make friends with your business aquaintances on the basis that business comes first and the business is properly specified. If you must do business with close friends then accept the results for what they are.
Life is a conflict between a desire to belong and a desire for freedom; belonging is a philosophy which gives strength but demands sacrifices to freedom; freedom is an attitude of mind.
If you don't feel free then take up cosmology as a subject of study!!

The chances are that someone who feels that they can 'assure' me that truth exists, is as far away from being able to do so as is possible...
