I guess this song (the theme song from "The Drew Carey Show") came along too late:

[The lyrics should include the echoing "OHIO!", added at the end of the song on the TV intro ...]
Here in Texas, I thought we had one of the better traditions, with Janis, Buddy, etc., but Ohio is no slouch with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and bands like The James Gang. BTW, that band (or at least the lead guitar player/vocalist - not Joe Walsh but later) did a cameo on Carey's show with a killer performance. The show even gave the musician a great line - walking into the club for the performance, he sees Mimi and freezes. Someone else says something to Mimi and he relaxes, saying, "Thank God, I thought I was the only one who saw her!"

The Drew Carey Show is one of only two good (well, it was good for a few seasons) sitcoms to take place in Ohio, so I certainly would not campaign against my local legislator for adopting a duel State Rock Song

I didn't look at the link before, because from having seen the opening sequence of the show, I remembered it as little more than 'Cleveland Rocks' over and over again.
That's a lot more than I thought

I might suggest a third state rock anthem ... anything by Joe Walsh, who I guess was from Ohio based on the early days with The James Gang. I think Walsh is one of the brighter lights in *classic* rock ... "Life's Been Good" is one of my favorites, and I don't consider it a "novelty" song ... "Ordinary Average Guy" sounds good to me after all the preening nitwits ...
BTW, what was the other Ohio sitcom?

I'll talk to the Assembly about that when I get elected governor
The other Ohio sitcom was A3251747 'WKRP in Cincinnati'

What about Neil Young? (OK, I know it's better known as C, S, N, & Y's song but Neil wrote it and does it so much better solo...)

He's Canadian but that's a particularly haunting song.
Then there are The Pretenders and Chrissie Hynde. They wrote a lot about Ohio but the best may be *My City Was Gone*:

But then, you're right. Hang on Snoopy is the best possible rock song for a group of Boomer politicians to pick!!

'sloopy' marches well.
some of us can say 'cleveland s#$%s' to THAT song.
'howard the duck' and 'light of day' are among the movies filmed in and around cleve-burg, as is harvey pekar's 'american spendor' and superman was developed by two cleveland writers.
a piece of advice : in visiting the rock and roll HoF downtown, leave your credit card behind.....(yes, you can visit the store without paying admission to the museum.) i could have spent two months' budget buying music there..
