Try tar remover (if you can get it) or perhaps terpentine.

I'm using green soft-soap for a lot of things like cleaning brushes
with paint and laquer.Lemon-oil are also useful.

Eucalyptus oil? - no that only works on gum tree stains & there arent many where you are, are there?
Petrol followed by lots of soapy water is usually good for most gummy stains.

I havent found that to be the case, especially if its been polished in the last year & gets the soapy water treatment before it drys.
