A Conversation for The Agony of Being a Chicago Cubs Fan

The Cubbies are doing well, this year, so guarded optimism is appropriate. (I'm a Cardinals fan, so it pains me to say that). You have to admire Cubs fans --- wasn't it George Will who said his parents raised him a Cubs fan, "a peculiar form of child abuse"?
And then there's "Cubs Fever, Catch It...And Die", or the old saw about always getting your money's worth at Wrigley as your guaranteed a chance to see the bottom of the ninth.

Now! I know it.
Actually I became a die-hard cubs fan after having seen "Taking Care of Business". This movie also brought me to baseball.
So this is the year! We get to see 'em with a pennant. I know it. Or do I? Isn't it ironic that just this year I saw it again, the movie? They were playing the World Series then. Although the Angels will probably not make it this year.
Now! I know it.
The play-offs, the World Series!
I may be getting a little bit excited, but then I think so far I'm having a good reason to be.
