An appropriate device for the conveyance of cheese from hand to mouth.

That's what I'm after. A cheese conveyance device.
Having eaten very little today on account of feeling all wretched, I find myself lusting after cheese.
A cheese omelette keeps coming to mind, but I'm not too fussed about the omelette aspect. Cheese on toast seems a bit...not quite what I'm after.
A cheese dilemma is a very spiritually unsettling thing.

Have you considered:
A grilled cheese sandwich?
Crackers and cheese?
Pizza?
Fondue?
Breaded, deep-fat-fried cheese fritters? (If they don't do that in Belfast, I'll bet Glasgow has takeaway.)
A cheese salad? (Just pretend you're going to make a green salad with cheese bits in. Then leave out the green part...)
I'm sure somebody else will think of something...

Toasted muffins with cheese in them. Bread muffins, not cupcake ones - that would just be obscene.
The deep fried option sounded appealing, but too much work.
Despite feeling like death I'm still kind of because I'm not going to work tomorrow. I'm just going to read my book. Which, as luck would have it, is about the world being wiped out by a mystery illness with pretty much the same symptoms I have.

Chop it into cubes or sticks and pick it up inyour fingers. If you have one, take alternate bites from an apple, held in the other hand. Or rustle yourself up a ploughman's supper.

When you're finished with that, read PK Dick's 'The Unteleported Man'. I will guarantee you a transcendental experience.
Particularly if you put some, erm, oregano in those cheese muffins.

That sounds like the plot for "Station 11," among other novels. There's a mystery illness in "Arcadia," too, but medical science steps in and *only* 30,000 worldwide die.

Yeah, it's a common enough fiction trope, isn't it? The apocalyptic disease scenario.
Actually you got it first guess - it *is* Station 11.
I had to look at the cover before I realised that. Do you ever get that, where you're reading a book and realise you've no idea what the title is?

Yes. I had to keep reminding myself with that very book. The strands of the storyline did not begin to come together until late in the book.

Station 11 features a disease which makes people crave cheese but not know what form to eat it in?

Yes! As implausible as it sounds, modern society is merely one mass cheese crisis away from the abyss!
(My head is a bit befuddled with this cold. I nearly tweeted the above sentence rather than posting it here. It would have seemed even more bizarre with no context.

I think you've got this a bit arse-uppered, KB. Cheese is, in its many guises whether straight of the fridge or cooked, a ketchup delivery device.

and consider me well and truely accepting of the blame. I do have .... a certain cheese addiction afliction myself, afterall.
my favotie way to solvve a true cheese crisis, is with a block of 250 Grams of strong cheddar, or 200 Grams jharlsberg, and a knife. either quantity of each, on its own, pure, is sufficient. halucinogenically so, often. it has to be said. but averting global cheese crissi is a fate, so apauling, I fear mere halucination, cardiac heart failure, or impending gastrointestinal collapse, are but small prices to pay really.... unlike what they charge for me for the jharlsberg, which is truely a massive price to pay... such is life.... and its better the cheese we ate, than the cheese we were denied or we'd never be able to face our cheese-maker straight in the camenbert.

I see what you mean about Station 11, Paulh - how the strands of the story don't come together until late in the book.
I'm not quite finished it, but I nearly am. To be honest, it's an okay yarn, but there seems to be a lot of 'bloat' in it. I wouldn't be as enthusiastic about it as some of the rave reviews were that I've read.

It's an interesting notion -- people living in airports after the world has been wiped out by disease. Not what airports were designed for originally, but obviously no more planes will be landing there, so might as well put the buildings to use.
