Ooooh, now that's rhetoric...

If I die before he does I'd like Monsieur Hollande to do a graveside oration. He has an intriguing rhetorical flourish. I'm watching the Normandy landing commemoration, and having thoughts about him that I don't usually have about statesmen. I'll say no more.
I have - I'll be completely honest here - a bit of a moral blind spot when it comes to French politicians. P. pointed out, and I have to admit she's right, that I tolerate a certain level of conservatism in a French politician that I wouldn't put up with in an Irish one, or a British one. I guess there is conservatism, and then there's conservatism. I'd rather have Angela Merkel than David Cameron, any day of the week.

Should you clarify that before 2legs tips up or not?

Well he *is* kinda cute. Which I did not think he was until today.
But you're quite right, I should probably add a disclaimer to avoid a diplomatic incident. So here goes: I, KB, do solemnly swear, by the power vested in me, that I don't want to put nipple clamps on the president of France.

I'm sure he would be relieved to hear that KB. I just hope that none of the Paris tabloids read h2g2. It does sort of back the PR that Frenchmen are sexy though, that might not hurt a politician there.

I wish I never said it now, because it's getting like Father Dougal's big red button that says "Do Not Press". The more I think about *not* doing it, the more the idea takes root in my head.
