Commander Hadfield's coming home tomorrow. Somehow part of my brain still boggles at the fact that there's some geezer whizzing around the planet, singing David Bowie songs and discussing the Gaelic name for "Belfast" on Twitter.
I think I like old Hadfield. He seems to be the right kind of weirdo.

He won't be short of employment when he gets back. He has certainly been able to grip the world's attention over the past few months (well, I only became aware of him some months ago, so I expect most people, like me, will have been joining his followers in increasing numbers. No idea how long he was up there, or how long he had already been sending down pictures.)

According to a radio interview with his son this morning, he'll have lost about 40% of his bone density (or was it muscle?), so for a good wee while he'll be rehabilitating.

I'm sure it would feel odd trying to find your Earth-legs again. Like the Arthur C. Clarke story where there was a dog born in orbit who came to Earth, and couldn't understand why he couldn't sail around in the air any more.
