Can I assume from your smileys that your email address is [email protected]?
As for people daft enough to read all these messages. Dunno. I have learned over the months that several CTMB posters have kept up with all the Delwyn tales. Some (like Pondero) are completely bent out of shape about it. Ani

Eee, Tim, I haven't made wine since I was a teenager, hmmmm, maybe I'll dust off the demijohns. I never expected you to be this sort of influence on me.
Can you put new wine into old demijohns?
I thought we were all gathering here as Dai couldn't stand what was going on, where is he?
Absolutely knackered, had a grotty day with a network. I hate computers.
Will be pouring myself a McLelland Islay malt shortly to sort myself out.
Mrs Heavy home now, from her long week-end of entertainment.
So I'll be on my best behaviour.
Speak to you later.
Ian.

I gather that 'lovely water' has become our little code for beer.
Dai and the Librarian are hiding from the police in the mountains. Disguised in false beards and ears and t-shirts saying 'Welsh fugitives.'

A gang of Welsh marauders stealthily concealed in the mountains, descending to the valleys when the boards are open. They post in their native tongue, and before the mods retaliate they return like shadows to the hills, awaiting another day.
Cambria ne'er can yield.

Hi Ian. Re <> Alas, if only it were so.
My heart is cut today by the ignorance and hatred on the ctmb. I sent one poster off to the Mod objecting that his rhetoric was extremely close to meeting the definition of hate propaganda. The Mod replied that his post broke none of their rules.
Thinking that the Mod might be operating under some sort of extraterritoriality, I checked the British legislation. I was shocked to learn that the legislation is very thin in this area. However, even if the Mods rules were the only thing to go by (as opposed to international expectations), then one would think libelling the Hail Mary would fit the definition of 'disrespect.'
I have developed an image in my mind of our Mod sitting at his desk, drinking coffee all day, doing no work whatsoever, reading one of those dreadful papparazzi rags, and arrogantly inventing stupid rules from time to time. Unlike Eliezer Pennywhistler, I do not think our Mod is a woman. I think he is a man who has become a hero only in his own mind. An airhead.
I am saddened by half moon's situation. I hope she has the sense to stay away from Orange Peal. Poor ole Sweet Caroline seems to have perished on the shoals of the ctmb as well. It doesnt seem right that the ctmb is allowed to function as a bandstand for anti-christian hate propaganda. I now diligently avoid a whole long list of people. But every once in a while I stumble upon them. Or they stumble upon me. Honestly, sometimes I just bang the side of my head. ani.

Ani, I am not aware of an OP problem, I don't agree with all his theology, but then it is a discussion board. I haven't seen a hidden agenda in his posts. He did lay a trap for me once on scripture, but it failed, as it wasn't something I had said.
It's obvious he's a non trinitarian, I am a trinitarian, but I fiond his posts a lot more entertaining then the constant Genesis, evolution ping pong.
Am I naive here?
Bear in mind I've only been on the board about five months.

Ian. Personally, I have found OP to be a rhetoric-meister who arbitrarily limits the scope of authority, topic, wording, and interpretation (as opposed to NEGOTIATING common agreements and understandings and as opposed to working toward common ground). His lengthy and persistent postings tend to dominate rather than respond to the other postings. He does not respond to arguments; only repeats his own arguments without supporting them logically and then justifies doing so with unending tautologies. He is clear about his beliefs only when he has wound us up with scores of page-long postings. I do not like that. Ani.
By the way, I started a thread called 'Who owns the word marriage?'
I would be interested if anyone has some views on lex orandi lex credendi as it applies to who gets to use the word 'marriage. But I can't use this latin terminology on the ctmb because the Mod will pull my post. Lex orandi lex credendi means 'the words we pray are the word we believe.'

Well apart from that then, he's alright?
I've added to your thread! Have a look.
By the way I do like it when you speak latin to me.

We're very careful in Canada to leave the 'got' out of Sorry I haven't a clue. It is an unnatural thing for us to leave the 'got' out of sentences. We love 'got.' So we have to have some way of reminding ourselves. Most of the time we stick our chins out, raise our eyebrows, and put on our version of an English accent which, well, you can imagine.
I saw some Monty Python the other day. They were all in a meeting and they were all supposed to be Americans. They were doing a very good job with the accents, but they were just off enough to have me in gales of laughter. Part of the laughter is that I have experienced the British fascination (morbid fascination actually) with funny American things. My cousin and his friend would never miss a 'Pick of the Worst' episode. It came on very very late at night and was almost exclusively American country music (hurtin' songs). They would laugh themselves into stitches. We do the same here. In Canada. And they do the same in the U.S. Americans love mimicking the British. But they absolutely adore mimicking the Canadians who they consider to be country bumpkins.

I think I might have mentioned the joy of a Californian explaining Monty Python to myself. More surreal then the sketch ever was. I worked in Upstate NY (Utica, a pretty poor area), Dallas, and Santa Clara (silicone valley). Had a marvellous time. Was offered a permanent position out there, sadly my Uk managemnt wouldn't release me. Just one of the reasons I gave up corporate life. Ian

Ian. In answer to your question about whether or not you have got tautological: Definitely not. Certainly not. Most assuredly not. Unquestionably not. Categorically not. In no uncertain terms not.
The long and short of it: not. Ceteris paribis: not. When all is said and done: not.
As for me, well...

Hi Ani,
I don't know - but I intend to give the benefit of the doubt. They seem honest to me. A crisis of faith at this early stage is not unsurprising when faced with something like the Jesus Mysteries. It does have the potential to raise problems if one is trying to settle into the more conservative wing of the church....
And, having been around the Freke and Gandy loop a number of times, I can get a reasonable handle on what is likely to come up as an issue.
