Drugged bulls?
luisdom Started conversation May 14, 2001
It would be a great scandal if you say that in my country (Spain).
Well, I don't think bulls are drugged for bullfighting... not that i like bullfighting.
Shame on us for bullfighting!
Drugged bulls?

This debate has been raging in Spain for some considerable time. The only real evidence of drugs in bulls which have been tested after the event have been steroidal types used to encourage muscle growth. These have no effect of the bulls behaviour in the ring - although their use is to be discouraged. You can take it from me that no matador (please do not use the term toreador - it is an American invension) would ever want to fight a bull which had been sedated. That practice would make the animal completely unpredictable and far more dangerous than an alert strong bull.
