Surely a sensible pair of shoes is one that you can slip on and off in comfort (regardless of their laces, lack of laces, heels, holes or other attractions..)

No, sensible shoes are black and make your toes point up in the air when you wear them. Any other colour cannot be considered sensible, instead it must be considered flamboyant.
