I've just found what appears to be a forged 10p in my wallet.
The edges of the coin are completely smooth, the coin is ever so slightly larger than it should be, and the die was obviously off-centre when they stamped it.
Hmmm....
Have I stumbled upon the product of a deeply unambitious organised crime ring?

How funny. Maybe they're beginners and want to practice on a small coin.

Coin collectors pay good money for mis-stamped coins. Try searching ebay for "error coin".
I once found an UN-stamped US Quarter. (identifiable by the three layered sandwich of 75/25 copper/nickel alloy with a pure copper middle). Unfortunately someone swiped it from its place on the bar of the pub.

Is it rusty? I've had a few counterfeit 1 pound coins and only found out because a shop had an example ready at the till and the main evidence was corrosion. Mint coins should not corrode.

And as for the deeply unambitious. It's all very well forging those 50 quid notes but they're not too good when you need a mars bar from a machine or need to fill a parking meter

Nope, not rusty... also the colour's fine and there's no significant wear.

The forgerys are getting everywehre these days, last time I was back at my Dads I was offered forged £10 £20 and £50 notes, effectivly for half their face value (so I could have bought a forged £20 note for a tenner), apparently they looke almost undistinguishable from non forged notes... and I was offered em in two differnt bluddy pubs

Wow! That's pretty nervy to try to sell counterfeit banknotes in a pub.

WEll.... I guess so... But then again they're the sameish/simular types of pubs in which I've been offerd guns, fake passports, cheap knock off bottles of shampoo, spirits on the cheap, cheap cigarettes, rolling tobaco, cannibis, cocaine, etc oh and sex as well
I'm not telling which if any I purchased

Well I dunno if it were counterfaint or not... it was cheaper than they'd have been to buy in the shops here.... so I could only guess it was cheaper stuff in bottles that just looked like the brand name ... Or maybe brought cheaper on the continent then tried to sell em here... I'd never buy dodgy shampoo though... I've enough trubble with my hair as it is 'lived a sheltered life'...
I tend to spend a lot of time with people on the periphery of society....
its more.... soemthing.... more... something.... Unpredicable
