I've Got a Secret...
Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Feb 6, 2006
I've checked and the "don't tell" part of the non-disclosure agreement has been lifted.
So here it is: I'm an official Beta tester for Dungeons & Dragons Online (see I told you it wasn't very exciting)... I've been playing it all weekend (for free, before its official release!) and after initial excitement (which lasted until earlier this evening when I died one too many times) I now starting to really dislike the game and am telling the Beta forum why.

I dunno... tha's pretty cool. (or is it 'kewl')
I just read an article the other day about what Sony did to all the avid Star Wars Galaxies players. (Cutting all of the non violent character types to make it more of just a shooter based game and less of a community game).
Since I fell out of love with SW with Ep.II (I refuse to watch Ep.III) and have long thought that Lucas only cares about the profits I'm not surprised one bit.
D&D is a franchise with a long history and devout fans. As a beta tester it's important that you do not let them muck it up.

Well, I've told them what I think of it (at personal risk as other people who have done the same have invariably been ripped to shreds by people who seem to thing that Beta testers should be grateful for the invitation and are there simply to dispassionately play through the game looking for bugs rather than expressing their opinion) and hopefull someone will listen.
But I'm definitely not alone... when the non-disclosure thing was relaxed a *lot* of people expressed their dissatisfaction and at least one web comic did a strip about how the game wasn't delivering what it had promised.
