No signs of anyone sniffing around that looked halfway interesting. I don't think it is entirely attributable to the boards being down the day before yesterday but there seems to be a positive lack of posts since the mass defection. Al Zima, Mike and Jason are still there, but sounding increasingly desperate. There was a lot of trash on the floor and the bar had a whiff of desperation and loneliness to it. A couple of "bright young things" seem to have come in, but I'm not sure I'm up to BYT conversation any more. This is such a comfortable place to be......

Essjay how are you today? I've just left a message for Mike and Al saying we will find them if they come as THEMSELVES we will GUIDE them in!!!

It makes it a bit difficult when people have nothing on their pages to know who they are! Unless they are on your friends list and then you have to switch back to check your friends.

I just don't get it yet !!!
I replied to posters on my first day in this strange land...and now I find other posts that I didn't see first time around. Tell me........How the bloody hell does it work???

All I wanted to do initially was to make contacts with CB exiles..which I thought I had done. So why do I keep upturning stones and finding 'other' messages that have been sent between you all underneath..yet I knew nothing about?

I am relatively new to Pc's, so this is a whole new world. Can someone explain(as if talking to a child of 8 years old...no, make that 4)WHAT AM I DOING HERE? WHO AM I? WHERE AM I?

Checked the CB message board this morning, just to confirm that I am really not missing anything... and the vitriol and invective going down over the weekend between two of the combatants (who shall remain nameless...) had me gasping over my and ! As PG was heard so post recently, if someone opined in a public house in such a loud and offensive manner I would withdraw my patronage... I am sooooooooo glad that I've discovered this refuge in which to bask. . It's like a War Zone over there!! Let's hope we can keep this place clean and pleasant for as long as possible. I wouldn't want all Corrie's hard work to be in vain. ?

Corrie B only joined a few weeks ago and had happy times. Lately though it's gone down the pan. The good guys get blasted by the bad guys and the mod guys don't do anything at all about it.

It's all terribly The other evening I actually posted a less than pleasant response to one jerk. I am ashamed that I sank that low. The post was thankfully removed. How come, though, the really offensive posts remain? I feel utterly shocked and saddened at the depravity of certain people.

One personal observation is that posting is quite bland without the human contact. I find it very easy to be paranoid and feel insulted when the person is just joking or trying to be kind. Face-to-face there is no misunderstanding. I know that I should be very much more careful about what I say and how I say it. Lots to learn, I guess.

Personally, I do prefer this place. It will be wonderful if Perkins and Briant join us and we can dress-up and act silly. We can have little plays and drink plenty.

I want to be able to talk to my new friends and enjoy their company. What I fear though, like you Essjay, is that this place will be ruined also.

The e-mail was me taking things the wrong way. All I wanted to do was help everyone new here to feel happy. Said somewhere on here that I am a mother hen - I am very protective of my new friends. What happened was that a beautiful new friend suggested I let others find their own way. I got upset because I then thought that I had upset people, including you. I'm panicking because I see newbie friends who are a bit lost and confused and I want to help. (Mr. Tog is stuck outside the North End door thinking we're ignoring him!) Everyone will feel happier if they have their own pages looking brill and some nice cafes and pubs to have a chat and . Made Helen a nice page to talk about music, want to make a book page off of Comfort Corner etc etc.

PG is quite right. I think we all have to adopt a slightly different mind set when using these boards. Unlike a phone, where you can hear the humour (or otherwise) in someone's voice, or personal contact where you can judge from the person's eyes and body language exactly what is driving them at that particular moment, there is a peculiar anonymity and impersonality about these boards whereby it IS difficult to convey the exact emotion (even with the extraordinary range of smilies we have acquired here!). As a poster on the CB recently pointed out, a lot of the more belligerent posters (I use the word reservedly! ) tend to put LOL at the end to indicate they don't mean it to be taken seriously. Well, we all know now who those posters are, and their LOL is so much horse manure!! (Incidentally I used to use LOL as an acronym for Lots of Love... no wonder I got some strange replies.... !!) Even though you and I have only been doing this a short time, I think that we have sorted out the wheat from the chaff and, as PG says, if someone takes what you say the wrong way that is their problem not yours. Let them have the paranoia instead!! You are far too gentle and kind a soul to be intentionally vicious (mentioning no s or s ... sorry no "*****s from Amsterdam" in the smilies!). Like you, I got frustrated that all the good-guys were constantly having their posts modded and others were allowed to be quite abusive quite openly.

We have our haven of tranquility and . Let's all enjoy it in the spirit in which it was started - in friendship and humour. (And if a big of cross-dressing occurs in one of Briant's dramas, what the heck!!)
