Jennifer Yorke Yorke has suggested we have our own Cyber Pet. Any suggestions, girls?

Pointless asking me as we live in a menagerie! smiley - smiley
We love animals. At the moment we have two dogs, three fish, two gerbils, a hamster and a cat that we think has chosen a dog-free home in which to rest her royal ass.

You still up, too? It's addictive this place! Just been tarting-up our page. Thought I was on my own, so am listening to Puccini.

I think the smiley - shark is beautiful plus she might well double-up as our bouncer!!!! She will look after us.smiley - smiley You'll have to ask JYY, though, because she's our Zoo Keeper.smiley - biggrin

Will smiley - shark need an appropriate naming session? Do you think Pond Girl would sort out the tank?smiley - erm I'm all out of wood since knocking-up the book shelves!

I think I've sussed how we can all have editing access to our 'Front Door'. Without our Aces!

Morning everyone.

Hope you all have a lovely day in our space.

If anyone would like to add ideas for our cyber pet(s) please do so here. I think the place will be homely with a few pets. Maybe a smiley - dog (not feral, Essjay, too much hassle!!!), sleeping in front of the fire, a smiley - cat to chase the smiley - mouse, and a cute pet smiley - shark.

I'd actually like a labrador/retriever cross. It would have to be a bitch, I'm afraid. Testosterone charged dogs are too much for my sensitive nature! She would have a light cream-cracker coloured coat with a pair of large brown, soulful, trusting eyes. She could put her head on my lap when I come in from a long day at the funny farm and gaze longingly into face as I recount my tales of woe to her ever pricked ears. I know that she would be mentally saying "gimme a biscuit", but I would convince myself that her love was unconditional and not cupboard and that she was, indeed, hanging on my every word... I could then take her for long walks through the bluebells and snowdrops; we could splash through the surf on a deserted Cornish beach. She would then investigate the contents of rock pools, get her nose nipped by a crab, her coat would get wet and salty and then she would stink to high heaven. I would collapse in one of the large, squishy chairs with a smiley - redwine, she would put her head on my lap and....
smiley - dog ahhhhh....

Hiya Corrie smiley - smiley Bit of a blue day today... I keep thinking of you and saying to myself "think orange, think orange".... It wasn't just one smiley - dog ... there were two. One was Judy, given by my Dad to my Mum as a 1st anniversary present, known affectionately as Joodles who was petrified of water. My Mum was nearly 8 months pregnant with me and got caught in a rip tide on Constantine Bay in Cornwall. Joodles rescued her by plunging into the surf and standing four square so Mum could grab her ruff and then pulled her in... she lived until I was about 6 when, sadly she got involved in a fight with a fox or a rat or something and it savaged her underbelly so badly that we had to have her put down. Mum swore never to have another... until 1969 on a windswept deserted Pembroke beach we met a lady with a retriever and four of the most adorable puppies you ever saw.... that was Muffin... she was the "Trievador" in my cyber-dream. A laughing, devil may care, character who used to flick her tale with a "to hell with the world" gesture... a heart so big you could lose yourself in it and eyes so eloquent they spoke to you.... She was my constant companion until 1982 when I started to travel for work. By this time she was 13 and getting a bit arthritic and "deaf" (she could still hear a chocolate wrapper at 1000 paces...) so I sent her to Spain to live with my mother. She got a new lease of life, discovered the joys of Rioja and empty Spanish hills and carried on blithely, cocking a snook at everything until Valentines Day 1984. Mum was so upset at having to tell me, she actually flew home from Spain to visit me working in Devon, gave me a large smiley - redwine and broke the news to me personally. Since then, dogs and my work life have becoming increasingly incompatible...smiley - sadface I want to retire soon, to a place near the sea, and get another Muffin or Joodles, watch sunsets and fondle a silky pair of ears.....

Tom .... - thanks for asking - he also contracted mild food poisoning on his trip over and so the last couple of nights have not been very romantic smiley - biggrin but I am sure we will get there. I've got until 16th to get him well. Who is it that has the smiley - nurse uniform.... maybe that would work better than smiley - handcuffs!!

Hope your day is going okay - you were up late. I saw the time of some of your postings..... you'll get bags under your eyes!! Lots of smiley - love and smiley - kiss. Catch you soon!!

Hello, Zoomed through work and have come home to clean house.smiley - erm

Sorry Tom's still ill.smiley - sadface He's worked too hard, had a hellish, long journey and he's completely exhausted. Some rest and your smiley - love he'll be all right. The bed has fresh smiley - rose petals, I've made some smiley - tea and a macaroni cheese. smiley - hug and smiley - cuddle are better than rumpy pumpy anyway.

You have lovely memories of Muffin and Joodles. The first thing you do when you quit work is find the right dog for you. Dogs love so unconditionally. They put all their trust and love and faith in us and they would protect us to the end. When I was 10 we lost our dog, Jay. She was a black lab with hip dyspalsia. She had just had surgery on one hip. The central heating engineer left the gate open. Jay was hit by a car on that side - there was nothing anyone could do. We lay with her in our conservatory. It was the first time I saw my Dad cry. My older sister was sent home from work. Our whole family was wrecked. We truly grieved for a very long time. I have other stories of beautiful companions but loosing Jay sent a whole set of emotions I was unfamiliar with, then. All too familiar now.

Did you listen to JV, (can you get it online?) What a sad show today. Often I cry with rage and frustration but today's show was just so 'raw'. Thank goodness no-one came in. Let's count our blessings.

You know what? We need smiley - cheerup We need smiley - redwine and lots of smiley - laugh

You are lovely, and I'm so glad to have 'met' you.

Hiya Corrie,

I've made it to the cafe. I was feeling quite upbeat (for once) and became quite tearful reading yours and Essjays stories about your dogs.
It's a sad fact that if we are capable of love we also have to suffer. The two go together, don't they?smiley - erm

I think we all need lots ofsmiley - hugsmiley - hugsmiley - hug and lots of smiley - bubblysmiley - bubblysmiley - bubbly.
I thought the menu on the blackboard sounded very inviting and wish I hadn't been "comfort-eating" on an large Belgian bun filled with cream. (There's another one in the fridge.)smiley - cake
Friend Shirley is dieting so at least I'll have a sensible time while she is here.

Is there a way of reading previous threads like there is on the MB.'s?

Do you serve tea, Corrie? That's just what I fancy. Will you put the kettle on while I have a look around.

Lots of smiley - love

Hi smiley - zoom

It's great to see you here. Ruth posted something the other day - I'll just get it .....

.... Here it is:

Life is a river.
Go with its current and you may be buffeted on its rocks, dragged down into its whirlpools had have to brave its rapids.
But at the end of the journey you will know all life has to offer.
Cling to its banks and you will be forever safe, but you will never cry with all your tears and never laugh with all your laughter.

What about that, then. Very wise and profoundly comforting.smiley - rainbow

Here's a cup of smiley - tea

Must go to compose an e-mail to you with all the easy ways to get around these boards.

Catch-up later.

smiley - love Correne smiley - earth

PS Have you any ideas what we should call the cafe? No suggestions, yet!

Dear Corrie
I usually have R2 on from the moment I get to the office until shut down - the only show I miss so far is JW....
Today the TechnoGeek decided it was time to play with our LAN so it went down at about 11.00 your time and has only just stablised (3.40 your time), so I missed all of JV. Will have a look at the JV board tomorrow to see if I can see what I missed, but it's not like listening in real time is it?

I seem to have been a real Jonah today and sorry, Fly, if I depressed you to the point of despair; I shall be my normal ebullient self tomorrow... promise!! smiley - biggrin

As Corrie so sagely pointed out all I need is a nice smiley - kiss and a smiley - hug and all will be right with my world again.

Catch you later... if this line holds... I have had better communication with two baked bean cans and piece of string smiley - biggrin

Hope you've all had lovely days - I am sending over a bottle of my favourite Murfatlar Merlot for you to try smiley - erm - once you get it past the tonsils, it seems to do the trick!!

Lots of smiley - love

You didn't need to hear the show, honestly, Sallie.

Friendships are growing here and that's because we share. smiley - smiley My real friends see the real me and that's what makes a difference. If you want to smiley - wah, Essjay, well, smiley - wah We can all smiley - wah together, then smiley - laugh together.

If I'm too gooey and too soppy, just ignore me!!!!

Me and smiley - zoom have had a chat about this before, haven't we smiley - zoom? I worry TOO much and Fly's right - it won't do me or the one's I love any good at all.

OH! (Big sigh)smiley - cheerup

Evening BD smiley - fish! Nice to catch you too! Apart from Corrie who seems to be up all night cooking, cleaning and tarting up the Den, it's lonely in the mornings! I feel a bit smiley - silly talking to myself - but it's a habit finely honed over the years so I suppose I should be used to it by now smiley - biggrin!

Hope you enjoy your smiley - cake - I'm already on the smiley - redwine and, providing the world isn't falling out of Tom's bottom when I get home I shall have a large smiley - bubblysmiley - biggrin

Oh dear, mustn't mock the afflicted but if he doesn't take a turn for the better soon, then I might have to point out that I am low on oestrogen and I have a gun!! smiley - monster

I think the smiley - shark could come in very handy - a great idea! Providing this feeble connection holds, will try and catch you later!

smiley - kisssmiley - kissNo no, Essjay, you didn't depress me, I can quite easily do that all by myself.
It's reading all these messages that keep me sane, honestly.

I said it somewhere to Corrie to-day (can't remember where) that when things started to go wrong in the house, as they are at the moment, my husband used to say: "It's not a matter of life or death, is it?) and I would realise there were worse things than wonky drains, blown down fences, air locks in taps, videos packing up, lights failing, although it's hard to keep laughing, isn't it? smiley - laughsmiley - laugh
Reminds me, there's the other saying: If all around you are losing their head and you keep calm, maybe you're not aware of the situation.
LOL.smiley - biggrin
Isn't it lovely to have our own cafe? Corrie is Sooo clever, I have no idea how she knows all these things. I am a very recent puter-addict and will never know all the ins and outs, but I'm enjoying myself no end.smiley - smiley

Your Merlot is lovely. The more you drink, the better it gets.
A few smiley - kisssmiley - kisssmiley - kiss and a nicesmiley - hug is what we all need.
