h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Just thought I'd have a look and see what's happening in the other place - they seem to be having all kinds of problems!

It's cold and grey here in Surrey - there has been a bit of a snow flurry - so I've made a huge vat of Vin Chaud, and another pot of hot chocolate (mit rhum and creme), if anyone fancies hot ribena with rum the kettle has just boiled and the mugs are on the top - just help yourself.

There's some books on the shelf, and there's an excellent juke box all supplied by the wonderful Corrie .
There are also lots of those wonderful squishy chairs, you know the really big ones where you can just curl up and wallow in your favourite book.

The fire is roaring and there is a huge pile of logs ready to go on when it dies down a bit.

Well I must go and finish some work - will catch up with you all later.

I've been trying since about 06.45 your time this morning Ruth. Apart from a brief 5 or 10 minutes about 2 hours ago - nothing. I almost got excited and was going to post you all to say "They are open", but as I thought it and refreshed the CB page, it crashed again and got the "please try later" message.... Think the last post was sounded by SC**** at about 8 something last night and that was it!! I think there was you, Helen and Jason going at it..... Even JV was heard to comment today about "some people having trouble" - he put it down to congestion! Aha!!! CB has just come up with last post at 15.39. So you should be in luck if you go over now!!

So am I. Wish Fly would join us. Ask her when you go on the CB, please. Must to Tescos, pick kids up (they've gone to my mate's to play for a bit), cook some curry etc

Can't wait to see what you'll have done by the time I get back. Those chairs are brilliant! As for the fire - much needed - couldn't get it to light. I've put some spare wood from the shelves in the basket next to the fire - should keep it going.

Am going to ask a MOD if you lot can access the front page, too, so we can all play with it.

Corrie. Saw a posting by FLY earlier on CB saying she had given up on this place as she couldn't find her way around. Think Helen was trying to talk her out of it but not sure FLY was convinced. You might have to bring your powers of persuasion to bear! She can hardly refuse now that there is a nice, warm, snuggly environment for her to swoop into and settle at her leisure! Love the decor - coming along great! All we need now is for PG to put a suble water feature in there so we can chill out to nice watery sounds as well. You have been working hard today! The front page looks great! Three changes today? or four? Don't know how it would be possible for external editors to work on it as well... it is part of your space after all and the poor cafe might get terribly confused. Careful on the roads! Hi Ruth, Corrie and anyone who's there. I just got into the CB but haven't posted.

Isn't the cafe lovely I can see it's going to get busy when the news spreads.

The snow flurries have stopped but it's freezing, glad the fire's on in here. Well must go and start the tea. Catch you all later
