What about all the information on the different types of archery? Target, field, hunting, flight and so forth? And the types of bow (longbow, recurve, compound, flight) and the types of arrow (crap, nice, expensive but worth it, expensive but only worth it if your image is on the line)? I'll have to write one myself, I think.

You forgot Barebow. - I'm terribly offended. Oh, by the way I shoot barebow, always have, always will, and don't you ever forget me again.

Woops. Sorry. I don't have much contact with Barebow archers, and tend to only chase information about recurve, since that's what I shoot.

What level do you shoot at? Beginner, medium, elite?
I only shoot for fun now, but I'm Danish Champ in Barebow 3 years running (a few years ago) and now I do all the drudge work for the elite archers instead.

Wow... You way outclass me then. I've won two competitions but only because there were only two junior boy recurve archers at them, and one of them was me. The other guy's really even worse than I am. On the GNAS (UK thingy) system I'm 3rd Class, which is really not all that good, but then I've just got some new arrows which are long enough (that's the problem with growing) so that should help. A lot.

You can do better than that! You see, it's per definition NEVER the gear, It is always the archer. Looking for a problem with your shooting? Find a mirror.
However, I do recognize that growing does give problems with the gear, suddenly everything is out of proportion. But it's only a passing fase so don't let it throw you from your objective: how YOU shoot, not how your bow shoots.

This is all too true. My technique's been really dodgy lately. Having short arrows really doesn't help, though, because you can't draw properly. However, I know that the bow's not really the problem because it's supposed to be pretty good. Who needs a Hoyt Avalon anyway?

Not me, 'cause I'm still on my beginners set up! (Recurve in case you hadn't guessed). I'm not any standard (yet...) but I have just passed the standard for the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. I scored 254 in 3 dozen ends. That's indoors, 20yds, on a 60cm face. Converted to "DofE" points that's fourteen points. Haas anyone heard alternative names for GNAS? I have. But only one. Grumpy, Nasty, and Stupid...but I never said that right?!

Sounds about right for GNAS. I just (about half an hour ago) shot the worst Portsmouth I ever did. I deliberately didn't memorise the score, especially since the guy next to me got 562. Mind you, he wasn't pleased with that because for 5 year's he's been trying to beat 581.

I have to do an English Talk on Archery on Friday. I have decided to talk about kit, because I don't really know too much (yet) about the other aspects of it. I'm just hoping that my talk will last long enough... +
