And my parentheses.
I was TRiG (Ireland) ~Now with added wings~ ever since doing the Plain skin hack after the login changeover. And now I'm back to TRiG Ireland.
I don't mind (much) the restriction on name length, but the restriction on which characters we can use is annoying.
TRiG.

I have to agree. It's really put the kibosh on my, er, ever-changing names I've had a lot of fun coming up with new tags over the past few years but I can't use punctuation any more, apart from a few characters, none of which are much cop.

I wonder what happened to the promise that we'll be the exception from the rule and can have our distinctive tags.

It's the first physical sign for a while that something is happening under the skin (so to speak) with this site relaunch thingy.

The squiggly one is still the squiggly one. Did you logout and in or anything like that TRiG?

No, nothing else, Kea. I don't really like to ask, in case it's bad news.

In line with hootoo traditions, we need a name for the Great Renewal coming up.
I suggest Ragnarok. Everyone's always talking about it, but nothing ever happens.

I changed my password. They probably caught me then. And I changed my user preferences default skin. (I'd been experimenting with Goo for a week or so, and then switched back to Brunel.)

I did as I usually do - changed my tag for my birthday - when I went to change it back I was under a new restricted character limit.
No more room for "amateur polymaths"

I assumed you'd twigged this already, TRiG, hence the longevity of your wings...
You can't write certain characters to the database, but there's nothing to stop you reading them. So you can't update your username/password combination but if that pair already exists you can keep using them. Look at all the long-elvised researchers with banned characters in their nicknames. I lost my [?] by changing my password, not my username.
