Aye aye Dog Breath. Quite right. The SEX season in sheep circles is commonly
referred to as tupping. That's because the boy sheep is commonly referred to as
a tup (unless you live in the softer parts of England where they insist on using the
rather vulgar word "ram"). The girl sheep is often referred to as a "yow". I used to
think that was due to the shriek she made when the tup leapt aboard, but no, it's
just a colloquial pronunciation of "ewe". Now that I've studied these things in a
little more depth, I know the yow just tends to make a soft grunt, if anything. What's
all this about food?

By the way. That stuff about shrieking. It's got nothing to do with any
personal experiences I may or may not have had.

Glad to hear it.
"He that knoweth no love for his tup knoweth no love for life"
Perhaps I mixed tup for sup (supper), owing to the fact it was near lunchtime.
This produces some interesting mental images though. It might explain some of the secretive behaviour of the back-country shepherd.
I wonder if the same applies to hog farmers in the US, or European cattle farmers?
I've heard farmers were passionate about their stock, but I think this perhaps going a little too far.
Going back the early observations on the true rulers of Wales, if behind every good man stands a good women, is the real political power of Wales invested in the sheep?
Does this mean behind every good sheep stands a Welshman? - in gumboots? - luving his tup?

Isn't that a bit harsh? I thought the Welsh had managed to live in harmony with the oppressive sheep for some years, now! I'd rather be oppressed by sheep than by coal. I've got an idea - why not send a crack squad of sheep to oppress those nasty English people? (speaking as a Yank living in Birmingham!)

I just wanted to say " what a wonderful and intelligent person/animal you are"... I would like to rub linseed into your pet rabbit.
