Thank you, sweethearts smiley - hug

The latest from the solicitors' is:

The surveyors' report was fine... but it does mention 'textured ceilings'. Can you please confirm it doesn't contain asbestos.

Hah!!

The texured ceilings are Polytex and, as far as I know, there is no asbestos in the building!

The solicitor says not to worry, it's just the surveyor trying to prove he's been into the property...

Well, I'd have far rather he say there was a gaping hole in the roof, than mention asbestos! smiley - cross

To be honest, had asbestos been mentioned 25 years ago, I wouldn't have taken the house because I had young children to think of. So we know have to wait and see if it just the mention of it will put of the young buyers.

Lil, many years ago Artex used to contain asbestos as I know to my cost. If you know your ceilings aren't done with that you should be ok.

Your solicitors are probably right, the surveyor is just covering himself. Hope you got copies of all your paperwork before you sent it off.

I have become aware just how complicated everything is now, buying and selling a house, Wills and anything else, compared with the things I dealt with simply and quickly over twenty years ago.

Baron Grim

Take a piece of the tile, grind it up until it's a fine powder, sniff it then wait a decade or so for the hordes of lawyers to start ringing you up. Then you'll know.

Mine is a textured coating too, and I have just had it plastered over as it can't be removed.
