i believe that when chimps smile, it is also a sign of aggression. was mark twain the one who said something like, 'man is the only animal that laughs'?
smiles and smiling is a *great* topic for an article! (if anything, it would bring smiles upon the faces of those who read it) perhaps you might expand the article a little? like for example how smiling is good for you. (hey, it takes less muscles to smile than to frown, anyway)
have a look at these articles:

Oops, seems like this entry snook in and no-one noticed for a while!
I would imagine that your first language isn't English, Babbel_fisH, as you don't use articles like 'the' and 'a'. If you make changes to your entry on the lines suggested by Farlander, we'll help with this.

My friend's dog grins.
It's really unsettling. At first I thought he was just baring his teeth or something, but no, it's an actual, intentional smile. Cutest, most human dog in the world, but the first time you see him grin it's really startling.

"Olympic Record for “shy smile” is 15 hours 12 minutes 55 seconds; “Hollywood smile” – 10 hours 35 minutes 5 seconds; “sexy smile” – 8 hours 23 minutes 42 seconds. For further reference look up the Book of Olympic Records in the nearest library."
Didn't know smiling was an olympic sport!

Our previous dog used to lift one lip in a friendly way. Our children called it "doing an Elvis".

my dog wedge (don't ask... just don't) does that too. grins real wide with tongue hanging out - usually before she bowls me over and tries to lick my fingers off.

Cats smile too, but not with their mouths. They use their eyes and ears.
