Nice of you to say that. I must confess, though, that I feel a bit of a fraud receiving applause for doing something I enjoy - searching for faults in text is so much more constructive than picking holes in oneself..............and I get to read some great Entries (or should that be 'entries'?).

I think you pointed out in the 'Is PR dying' thread that the Guide is liberally sprinkled with typos. From what I've seen of your work, you'd be well qualified to help in the crusade to clean up our act.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, jwf! Also, I was following the elephants thread and saw all of his postings, most of which have been removed, and I saw nothing wrong with them.

To be fair, 'dross' was rather a harsh word to use. 'Outdated, sprinkled with bad links & typos, and apparently unloved' seemed a bit long-winded at the time.

There are quite a few excellent Entries, though.

It's very curious because we were all cruising along nicely in that thread commenting on problems with the site and how to fix them and then all of a sudden somebody (afraid to mention names) leaps in and attacks Rudest Elf! I was so surprised! It seemed like they were referring to past things and it was a very angry posting. So I don't understand why Rudest Elf is in trouble here; it seems like that other person is the one who was wrong

I wish I understood this site better. It is very confusing who is running things and what the rules are.

I didn't intend to revive this thread, but when I found it, by chance, I felt I had to use it.

I am very pleased you dropped in with your words of support, but I think we should all drop it now.

Someone didn't realize that, at one point, I was as committed as they are now.... and there was no quick way to for them to know that.

An emotional fool like me can understand the reaction.

Let's think about something more positive.
