It's been a long time since I was last yikesed. It wasn't all that exciting.

It's always a nice feeling to get the keys to the new place and start to decorate.

I've got a few kitchen chairs to spare if you need some.

Redecorating will be a long-term plan, I think. It will be months before I know exactly what I want to do.

Thanks for the offer of kitchen chairs, dq. smiley - smiley I'll bear it in mind. As for that hall table - I've found a new home for it. smiley - brave

I'm glad you think so...

What I want is a new pedestrian entrance to the property, as well as additional book storage space, while retaining a garage space. Naturally I plan to do this on the cheap. Somehow, I think I'll run foul of the local planning regulations.

If it's attached, I doubt you'll run into many problems regarding planning permission or anything.

One can never be quire sure in Canberra - there's a very strong central planning body and it has some peculiar ideas. I once lived on a street where the street lights were placed behind the street trees so as to make the street look pretty. It was dead creepy at night. This is the same planning body that once put a power pole in the middle of someone's driveway, on the grounds that the driveway wasn't approved by them and so was in the wrong place.

I wish I could remember how that story ended; I think there was a court case before common sense took over. smiley - weird
