(those who read my LJ already know this, but anyway).
My meeting with my primary supervisor went something like this:
Me: Eegads, I'm late, I'm sorry!
Him: S'okay. Relax.
Me: But... PhD... eegads!
Him: Relax.
Me: what do I do now?
Him: Relax. Read. Read everything you've been meaning to read for years. Worry about the panel stuff around late November into December. Your panel won't be until May or June anyway and there's no point worrying about it yet, especially this soon after finishing your MA.
Me: Yay?
Him: Definitely yay.
I am SO all about this PhD thing.

enh, I don't want the Nobel if they give it to awful writers like Doris Lessing. *shudder*
But a good 3-5 years (including post-doc work there) until I get to be a lecturer of some sort. Though hopefully I'll get my first lot of first-years next year to torture (unfortunately that doesn't make me a lecturer - just a PhD student who's taking the easy classes so the real professors can work on the hard stuff).
Key: Complain about this post
