My name is Feisor and I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) here at h2g2. It's my job to welcome you to the site and hopefully show you around a little. I AM a real person, not an automated reply not an automated reply not an automated reply .
Welcome to h2g2 – not just the friendliest on-line community but an incredibly huge, living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. It’s compiled by researchers just like you and it's something you can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that.
You have made a great start by opening your space (I wonder id you are referring to Pheloxi - he was much loved here. I hope when you get to know us a little better you'll join in the general silliness and maybe even write for The Guide - but there's no rush - and it's not compulsory
We ACEs are volunteers here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
You can leave a message on my space just by clicking on my name at the top of this message or by hitting the reply button below - it won't hit back (usually).
I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place. It should keep you busy for a while
For a quick reference I recommend that you also read and bookmark this great page from Alex Tufty Ashman – click here ----> A28749630
Oh, and don’t forget to bookmark not only your space but the H2G2 <./>FrontPage</.> - it’s a great way to stay in touch with what’s happening and leads to all sorts of corners which you may otherwise miss.
Do some exploring and you'll find that the site has everything from the nonsense japing to debates on any number of diverse subjects. Many lasting friendships and relationships have been born on hootoo. It's kind of an online pub and encyclopaedia.
I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know
Enjoy!!
Have fun!!!
and above all !!!
Feisor

Thanks Feisor,
It is a quite overwhelming site, and I guess I'd need a guide to that specific galaxy
For now I'll just browse although I am thinking of writing some information on my home location in the NE part of the Netherlands and the lovely city of Groningen. I'm not sure that it would fit in the site set-up, so I'll browse afore posting that. Or writing it actually.
I guess I might have been referring to Pheloxi, I'm not sure because reception of this radio interview was not too good due to my trip into Germany. It was very special to hear about a man that was able to overcome his challenges in real life by becoming a well loved "guru" in the virtual world. I can imagine he's sorely missed by some; I heard women from the UK and Germany telling about him with a giant lump in their throat. To his family it must be both bewildering and comforting to know that their son/brother had made such a respected impact on so many lifes.
For now I'll just walk and stumble around the site.
Do you know what number of dutch users are active?
Have a great day!
JohnPeter

As it says above, you're welcome
Yes, this place is huuuge, I've been here 10 years and am still finding hidden corners
Browsing is a great idea though check the last posted dates because some corners have a lot of cobwebs ... people come and go
Try these to start with
Project: The Netherlands at A562916
The Dutch Researchers Club at A614503
You might also like to visit pheloxi's h2g2world at A696152 or Pheloxi's Memorial Wall at A50543570
Don't worry about getting lost - hitting the My Space link will always bring you back home
I have also let it be known that you were led to us by Pheloxi's story and suggested that people may like to visit - I hope you don't mind, we are a friendly bunch
If you have any questions about hootoo (as we call h2g2) or need any help just drop me a line here and I'll get back to you asap
Have fun

Welcome, John Peter.
Feisor let us (pheolxi's friends) know that you have arrived here after you heard the reportage on Radio1 Hilversum.
Yes, pheloxi was well-loved, and we miss him sorely. I'm the German woman you heard on the radio.
I look forward to what you'll tell us about Groningen or whatever else you want to share with the community.
I know of one active Dutch researcher (Hapi) - oh, just remembered: there are two more I've seen around, but I forgot their names.
Hope you'll soon 'learn the ropes' as we say here.

Great, I like the feel of this!
Eastern now another history, it's time to be working again. Picking up the news, plan a quick visit to Germany (Krefeld), get the green light for a therapy that might reduce the problems with my knees and next week the start of a new project.
Spring is in the air, will the future bloom as beautiful as our chestnut is starting to bloom?
Time will tell, a bit of a pity that time both lies and flies.
Have a springy weel!
Happy Holland Hugs from Meeden/Groningen
JohnPeter
