h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Over the past couple of days I have recieved numorous e.mails from people I don't know... The mails won't open to reveal their message, just keep getting some file or other and can be forwarded to a pc based mail account...
I have replied to a couple of them to enguire who they are, but none have replied as yet....
My e.mail address is no state secret but it baffles me when total strangers are sending me mail... How did they get it in the first place???? Strange to say the least.....

right about the emails......ive been receiving these sort of emails now for about 2months or so...i was like you ,,i replyed to them,,but got only 1response,that other person had never sent me an email...
i even got one the other day from an ilegal site.??,telling me my name is on there ...,i did try to send a reply back with a good few choice words,as you can imagine,but it wouldnt allow me..grrrrrrrr

i got onto telepest about this a few weeks back,they've even been checking my emails...apparently its a virus in the service,and we should just delete any emails we dont know.....i was getting bout 5 or more a day..

anyway hope this has heleped somewhat....

I think you should be careful with that kind of e-mails.
I don't think your digibox won't be damaged, but this must be e-mail with virus. All you have to do is not open the file and delete it asap

most of mine were hotmail.... i think it is an adult site or summat.... just like to know how they've got our addy's....

Hi Folks, Just a word of caution to you all, Never open unknown E-Mails, especially if they come with an "attatchment"

Its a well known ploy to send viruses and bugs into your PC!!!

If in doubt, wipe it out!!!!!

You can always set your Junk Filter to stop spam getting trough

Ive set mine so as its only people on my E-Mail list that get through, I save them only after I know who they are

had a few more this morn, but as you rightly said, i deleted them without opening...

Ah! Im glad PM, as there is nothing worse than getting a Bug or Virus, some can be really hard to get rid of

the main ones are hotmail.com,bug.com,msn.com,and aol.com,and now a .net as joined in, it pointless sending to the email addy they are from, because its a blind
no one will see the reply.

apparently the only way to even try to stop the emails, is to contact each one ie hotmail.com and so on and ask them to stop,this can only be done from a pc, and will probably be a waste of time,

There are companies that make a fortune finding and selling on E-Mail addresses

All you have to do is send one E-Mail, or open one, and theyve got you

Sad but true! best thing is to make up an address with a few /-:_ in them, that connfuses them!

Another way, is to make up an E-Mail address, and never use it let it fill with spam, then they give up, thats what I did, and it worked

See how much spam is on them

Ive never used my Blueyonder one yet, as I find my Hotmail.com one is , and besides all my friends know it now,

Too much hassel to change it now

In fact Ive been keeping in touch with my lawyer by E-Mail for the past 2 years now, it safe and secure
