CAFE BANGLA, Brick Lane, London E1: Its the sort of place you just want to dive into after work, no major frills or airs and graces, just crackingly good grub at a price that anyone can afford.

GUFFA, Islington, London N1: Exceptional Indian cuisine presented as it should be, in stylish and comfortable surrounding at a sensible price, Gufaa is the latest in a long line of restaurant.

DIL CHAD, Liverpool Street, E1: Over many years Dil Chad gave twist to traditional Bengali dishes, which came to be loved by city gents and barrow boys alike. Recipes which defined a typical curry house menu up and down the country.

BENGAL CLIPPERS, South East London, SE1: The food is exceptional; specialities include the celebratory ‘wedding’ chicken dish Murg Sagrana, prepared with cream and spices, and the Fish Hara Masala, marinated then broiled in a clay oven and cooked in green sauce.

MOTI MAHAL, Covent Garden, WC1: Despite the name, this intimate restaurant holds around thirty diners in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. There’s no charge for corkage, so the BYOB policy is an attractive option for those seeking good food on a budget.

CAMDEN TANDOORI, Camden, NW1: The reason why its likeable this place is because the menu changes regularly. It's easy to get to and serves some really fantastic food based on all the different regions of India.

CURRY ROYAL, North Finchley, N12: An award winning restaurant with a very different twist, Indian Flavour turns into a late night bar that serves drinks until Midnight. As well as offering late night diners the chance to stay out even longer, the menu takes a number of unexpected twists that includes everything from home-developed dishes to standard Indian fare.

GURU TANDOORI, London, N3: You’d easily just walk past this place - just of the high road. Small local Indian which has been here under the same management. Usual range of stuff but they serve the curries really hot - which is just fantastic for me! The jalfrezi is especially good and the prices are low.

TAYYABS, Fieldgate Street, E1: Over 30 years ago, this family run restaurant in historic Whitechapel has grown in size and reputation over the years.Originally a daytime café for locals and those in the known, the restaurant finally opened an evening restaurant n an adjoining Victorian pub. Recently refurbished the restaurant is decorated in vibrant colours and subtle lighting, balancing the fiery menu and bustling atmosphere.
