Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 25, 2003
What I would like is a buxom wench on each knee, a million pound job and a house in the US, France, Spain, Italy and Clacton-on-sea. But sadly I'll probably only get a job in fast food, a new cardboard box and a toothless prostitute smelling slightly of cabbage. As predictions go, that about covers life in general eh?

Peta Posted Jun 25, 2003
Hey, facing all that betting on the sucess of h2g2 seems like a totally reasonable idea!
But hey, who knows you may win the lottery or fall madly in love with an heiress, these things happen!
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 25, 2003
I don't play the lottery and I don't mix in the upper echelons of society. Otherwise, a very good chance of those things!!! Now, where did I put that crystal ball and the tarot cards?
Aha! Found them.
Peta Posted Jun 25, 2003
I don't believe in all that stuff... What moves stuff is motivation, and a bit of luck or right place at the right time. Or a combination of all of them...
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 25, 2003
Hehe, well to tell the truth I believe strongly that you ain't gonna get nowhere unless you shift your backside. Now if only I could get my motivation up.....
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 26, 2003
Peta has been trying to persuade me the same thing! Not too sure yet, but if I turn up, I'll make sure my lycra super hero suit doesn't clash with you to much.

Thing is, I dropped by here as a visitor and saw the fourth!!!!!! annual get together. And the fact that there were considerably more people on the "guest list", I thought to my self "woho! looks like the dream is coming together!". Looks like a big ol turn out on Saturday. I presume the public houses have been warned of stampede in the area? And that the ice cream trucks have been booked up? And how on earth is the age old argument of "Who's on first base?" going to be settled??

Pastey Posted Jun 26, 2003
It has grown a bit hasn't it?
Not only are there the annual summer meets, but also the annual Christmas ones, and all the unofficial regional ones.
When you think we only had how many? 12 people at the first meet that day, and there are close to 100 signed up for this one.
Slips into nostalgia mode...
Mind you, the only people who've been to all the official London meets are Peta and myself, and boy do we, well me anyway, feel old when meeting all those people with 6 digit researcher numbers
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 26, 2003
One reason I HAD to put my oar back in was just to see the ludicrous numbers that are here now! Did U100000 get a prize? 5 digits rule! WOOHOOOOO!!!!
Okay, so I been a little out of it, what with finishing uni and then doing virtually nothing for 2 years since leaving. Perhaps I should update my journal to reflect this......
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 26, 2003
Are you kidding??? I got one of the easiest numbers to remember!!! U33699. Lovely jubbly. The password took a couple of attempts. Made all the more difficult by the BBC login thingy. Ah well.

"Did U100000 get a prize? "
No idea, but the 100,000th researcher only made it to the frontpage. No prize.
Aha! Found them.
Jim the Wonder Llama (back from yonder) Posted Jun 27, 2003
Well, it's made me feel better Seeing as how U33699 didn't get a prize The world is unfair after all!!

There is a strong possibility of it, seeing as how I just turned down the offer of a bbq tomorrow evening. If not for the sporting action then for the drinks. I may get stuck down the gym
