Rounders - The first h2g2 community event

Ginger's put her own set of photos up, with many more of those exciting action shots that you wanted, plus the actual final scores... go see!
On Sunday the 19th of July 1999, a group of h2g2 researchers came together on London's Clapham Common to play a game of rounders.
Well, okay, they primarily got together to put faces to names, drink lots and play Tease The h2g2 Staff Member About The Submissions Backlog. (The h2g2 staff member in question was me, and to be fair, they didn't do it that much)
The event was
arranged by Lynn (Ginger The Feisty) and she picked an utterly gorgeous day for it: it was hot and sunny, the park was full of happy South Londoners (and a fully uniformed rugby team, for some reason) and an ice cream van was never far away. In other words, a great day to be outdoors (and not cooped up with a computer).
The rounders game went pretty well, considering how athletically-challenged we all are ("pretty well" translates to "nobody died"). I can't remember exactly who was on the team that won, but Mark was definitely on it, being an order of magnitude less athletically-challenged than the rest of us (although Steve would like it pointed out that he scored 4 consecutive rounders).
Back row, left to right:
- Mark (Dr Prunesquallor)
- John (Jan*)
- Doug (Doug Dastardly)
- Craig (The Dancing Tree)
- Steve (Pastey part 1)
- James (Jim The Wonder Llama)
- Peter (Merkin)
Front row:
- Me (Yoz)
- Ant
- Peta
- Lynn (Ginger The Feisty)
- Anne (Pastey part 2)
After the game we sensibly retired to the pub.
A big round of thanks to Ginger for arranging a fab day out, and to everyone else for turning up!
