deleting Journal entries

How can this be done and how can they be edited? Help please. I've tried editing my home page and everything else I can think of - all to no avail. Have I missed something - like an enormous eraser just outside my screen of vision - or am I stuck with my journal entries until the end of the Universe?

You're stuck with the journal entries. They didn't insert a way to edit them. I wish they did.
One way to 'fix' it that I've found is this: Journal entries are only about five for the front page. Then they start scrolling off the screen. If you don't want a real long home page, you can make several journal entries in rapid succession, put very little if nothing in the content window, and scroll the old journal entries off the screen.
Hope that helps. =)

Many thanks for your input. I'm glad it's not me. No doubt Ford Prefect will arrange for the perfection of this technique. That is if they ever read this stuff. too love and light, Paul

Well, isn't there something that could be done, without radically changing the nature of the Universe. Someting like, say, mailing the webmaster and asking for a little script addon to delete entries or someting ...
So, anyone knowing the webmaster's mail?

I think I know his Email hide out and I'll give it a try. This is proving to be an interesting site. Thanks for your contributions. Love and light, Paul

Hi Mordred. I have E-mailed him and had a reply! Apparently it is something that 'they' are working on at the present. If a journal entry is causing too much grief to it's originator then, by contacting the Webmaster, he can arrange for it to be deleted from the Centre. Otherwise we are left with the remedy at the head of this forum. Love and Light Paul

The system for deleting journal entries *is* coming soon... we intend for it to be usable within the next month, along with other interfaces that people have been asking for (e.g. deleting user entries).

Thanks Yoz - you are the third member of the h2g2 team to inform me of the impending improvements of the h2g2 system! It does seem to indicate that I, and others, have touched a VERY raw nerve in this instance. Having written software many years ago (about 25) I know how easy it is to pick holes in other people's products and how much it hurts when the software under focus is your own. Please do not take offence. I am sure that all amendments will make h2g2 a site to be envied. Love and Light Paul 25885

How do you browse h2g2 from another computer with a different browser than that which you logged on with ? Having originally logged on one bored day at Uni, I can't seem to access my home pages from my girlfriends computer.

hello, can i ask for some help please?
i registered, started a forum, then went to make a page, which, i hoped, would sit above the discussion.
Now i find that the forum has disappeared, and my page is there instead. i can search for my discussion, and find it again, how do i replace it please? thanks :?) Terry.

The URL you get when you register can be used to set your h2g2 cookie on any computer, so feel free to use it again. If you've lost the original mail, you can get another by registering again with the same email address (don't worry, it won't make a duplicate account)
