The worst of each are pretty similar in effect.
The best of each are pretty similar too, though men make better racing & rally drivers.
In between? Not a lot to argue about.

It depends on what you mean by best and worst. Young men have far more car accidents than young women
>>though men make better racing & rally drivers<<
If that's true Rod, what do you think makes the difference?

kea, yes - I forgot the young men syndrome - ties in, I reckon, with racing & rallying in that males take more risks as a matter of course.
That's generalising... insert *most* where it seems appropriate.
Whatever feminists (or masculists?) say, we're built-for-purpose (despite variations) and we (most) can't escape the consequences, both physio- & subsequently psycho-logical.

I don't think any gender of humans is built for rally driving, evolutionarily speaking
Rallying and racing aren't just about risk taking though, other skills are involved. I still don't see the rationale for why men might be better at it than women.

I completely agree, unless you are parallel parking and have been told inaccuracies about length
I'm really good at parking and I have ovaries *shrug*

It's only murder if you know you cant control your vehicle and drive it anyway...
And unfortunately the number of people who see driving as a right, not a priviledge is very high. And consists of both male and female 'drivers'. Most of whom have no right to be on the road under good conditions, let alone when it, ooh, I dunno, rains? Except that some short-sighted idiot gave them a pass certificate once, years ago, and they've never had to justify their inability to control a dangerous moving object since. And take umbrage when they are asked to.
I'm on a bad driving GGRRAARRRGG!!!! right now. Can you tell?

They're about to (probably) raise the driving age from 15 to 16 in NZ. Which I is a Good Thing . I'm curious why 16 and not 17 or 20 though. Is there that much difference in skill and responsibility between 15 and 16?

to drive or not to drive that is the Q.

I think generalizing men and women as good or bad drivers isnt getting the right responses...
Age is a factor, so is responsibility and upbringing, experiences, etc. Factor all these things in and technically women should be better drivers. Men are *mostly* hotheads who *mostly* think they know better.
As for parking, Im better at parallel, my partner is better at bay, its knowing which way to turn the wheel.
As for Rallying and racing in general. Women are just as good, like we are just as good at football, basketball, and any other *male* sport, we just dont get as much news coverage or support.

Women sometimes dont pay enough attention... Men sometimes dont care.
Result of either is colliding with other vehicles, it's just who's being more aggressive about it.
Being able to control a car going forward or backwards shouldn't be hard though, if it is, you probably shouldn't be given control of it... Reversing's easy, you put the front end in the right position to push the back end where it needs to go instead of just pointing the front end in the direction it needs to go.
A friend of mine recently made a meal of reversing a transit into a cul-de-sac. His main problem? Overcompensating. Taking things slow, a bit of an adjustment, checking all round = success. Turning from lock to lock will just end up with you zig-zagging all over the place!
