i had meant this thread to be slightly different but being in the present mood i just couldnt resist that first post soo,..

ahem...

the first time i flew into maui for a landing... all full of excitement and joy over the beautiful aqua water and foamy white surf... i felt, as we crossed over above the land of the island... a deep wave of sadness wash over me that stayed with me for days... which i now believe to be the sadness of the land and its people who have lost so much... surging up to capture our plane in its updraft... like a prayer to heaven...

not irretrievably... but still lost for the nonce...
