I have a tendency to say things I regret later. So as I'm not going to be here for a while, I better say this now.

Greyboxisation is a great idea. It stops useless, pointless conversations cluttering Announcements and causing -1s.

However.

At first you gave a link to a place to discuss the announcement, but that tends to have gone window-wise. Isn't it ironic when you close a thread, make an announcement about closing the thread, but never let us respond? So that's what this is for.

Don't you think that the people who would like to know that you closed that game knew? We knew that it could have been considered racist, but the problem with profanity filters is that they do not understand context.

If I said that profanity filters were plantpots, they wouldn't have a problem with it. But that's definatly an insult, even if I don't mean it.

If you're talking about the 'last one to say wop wins' thread, which I'm assuming you are because I'm not fully up to speed with current goings on on h2g2, then closing it down because of the word 'wop' in it is entirely unjustified. Fair enough if it was for the same reason as 'the last one to post here wins', i.e. clogging up servers, but to give content, i.e. the word 'wop', as the reason for closing it is just rather insulting really. Wop, used in that context, is in no way to do with racism. It is a throwback to a hitchhikers joke. Please can we not bring stupid political correctness to h2g2, it causes more offence than it prevents.

Have they hidden all the posts with this cntaining the word? Bit pointless closing a thread otherwise. And surely if someone did turn up and make complaint a email could be sent back explaining the context the word is in use with.
