It's not just a computer ... It's a way of life.
A very bold statement I hear you say, well it just so happens to be true.
Amiga owners are a breed of people who say NO to Microsoft and Intel and laugh at Windoze trying to Multitask.
It may be true that the current Amiga's are getting on a bit, so at least we don't use 1970's technology, and the Amiga NG is just around the corner. If Amiga Inc release this baby with the specs of what is rumoured, then we are in for a serious feast of computing power.
Open your mind .... not your wallet

Hear, hear!
Whilst it seems strange to users of other computers, users of Amiga computers formed a community second to none over the last few years. Indeed, the platform would never have survived the years in the wilderness when there was no owner, no updates and no official support. It's interesting to note that Linux is garnering a similar community feel to it (through slashdot et al), in a way that Micro$oft Windoze never will.
I for one now own 3 ( I did own 5, but the two little A600 computers that I bought for about 75 quid each made perfect little wordprocessing machines for my mother and Fiancee), and still use them more than anything else, even tho' I had to get a PeeCee for work and a Mac for graphics stuff (a colleague has a Mac, so it makes things easier).
The Amiga is a very underrated platform. Anyone care to take their 1987 vintage PeeCee and try and run Windows 95? Not a chance. And yet, the same model as my 1987 A2000 was used (and still is used as backup machines for their other Amiga boxes) by NASA for processing telemetry from all missions.
Not bad for a platform that the Windoze pundits claimed was dead over 5 years ago.
Amigas are dead

Are you series. The Amega is a dead vormat which should have died many years ago. There is very little software on the Amega which is not better on the PC !!!

Eeek!
Are we getting an advocacy rant here as well?!
Please don't tempt us wierdos to feed you mr.troll. =)

Amiga owners who rant about their machines either
a) are lost
b) haven't a clue about business requirements
c) don't realise the sheer amount of software available for the PC
Do you really think the Amiga has a future? Get real.. with the installed base of other platforms alone, its only likely to be a winner for owners of previous models of Amiga (who haven't caught up with the rest of us), and new users... Will there be real support for it from the software developers/houses? I dont hear anyone making noises about it.....

Tony, and all you sceptics, try "www.amiga.com/e-fr.html" to see just
how dead Amiga's are, and also check NEWS,Executive Update not to
mention Gateway 2000's involvement. There's life in the old dog yet!!

I have five amigas. I am proud of it. I am proud of the fact that I am not a sheep and have to be dictated at about what computer I want to buy. I am proud of the fact that it can play Quake, Myst, Heretic, Hexen. I am proud of the fact that companies like Click-boom can make their own original games for the Amiga...like Napalm. I am proud of Amiga Format. I am proud of cheese. I AM PROUD..........

I think the Amiga 1200 is great because of the feng shui involved. Eh?
They just keep going
Aardvark Posted May 30, 1999
The Amiga is a wonderful machine, and I have an Amiga A500 I bought very nearly ten years ago with no more maintainance than a new floppy drive which still works and sometimes gets used for the odd game (anyone remember Pinball Dreams?). I will admit I now use a PC, but I will continue to keep my A500 and A1200 and run an Amiga emulator on Windoze...

"Amiga - it's not just a computer, it's a way of life". What a load of rubbish! The truth is "It's not a very good computer, and it's users need to get a life".
PC's are evil, but at least they're not dead yet. The Amiga was good for one thing - Sensible Soccer. Thats it. Let it die in peace.

Snuff you Yaffle :p (that's a new one) Actually, I sold my Amiga 1200 at Christmas, to get a PC, and now I run an Amiga emulator which is just as capable. There may not be life in the old Amiga, but it's good for me for nostalgic reasons...
Also, the Linux community interests me a lot; it's as if all the old Amiga veterans have moved into that field, which is fine by me, and I'm about to follow suit.

jojon: this is JLC the TTP, happy to hear about your Linux entry. I am going to check Linux out. I don't give a hoot about AMIGA, all it means is friend in Spanish to me. Your name jojon, is what interests me. It is like I have found a twin or something psychic. Tell me what you are thinking about. I like th sketch in Goo too, is that you?

Uhm, that's Dirk, I'm the Amiga geek...:D ...oh and hi! :7
If you're scouting for operating systems btw, you might want to
check out QNX Neutrino, once they actually decide it's ready for release...
>Your name jojon, is what interests me. It is like I have found a twin or something psychic.
Err...You lost me there I'm afraid...:7 Does the word mean anything special that I am
unaware of? Is it similar to _your_ name? I use it simply because it's the first letters
in my last and first name.
Additionally it means "the yoyo" in my native language, which lends it a nicely
ridiculous air...:P
>Tell me what you are thinking about.
This about my self-descriptive entry? :7
I was honest actually - I rarely do think. Sure, there's a constant jumble echoing
across the vast cavity inside my kranium, but I've yet to make any coherence of it..
>I like the sketch in Goo too, is that you?
'fraid so. If it offends you, I can remove it..:7
(It's not really a sketch btw, but a processed photo...I wouldn't rely on myself to draw a stickman.

I'll just pop in to mention that QNX can now be downloaded at
http://get.qnx.com/ on the off chance that anybody who's interested
reads it...
