Man, I love Watership Down. I need to talk about it with people. Come here fans and vent your opinions!
Wasn't the cartoon series a bit of a disappointment? I mean it had a star-studded cast and a great idea behind it, but the animation was tacky and just watching it made me cringe. I suppose it's because it's aimed at primary school kids who've nevver heard of WD before and the series would serve as a bit of entertainment and hopefully motivate them into reading the book and watching the film in later life.
Wow long sentance!

if you don't know nuffin about Watership Down, then Watersgip Down is a spelling mistake and should be ignored. You may be interested on reading my 3 entries on it.
If you already know about WD, then you're just taking the mick.

Oh, lovely you!!! I read this book awhile back when I was in much more innocent times. The picture of the bunnies on the front was what drew me in, and I finished the book in a matter of days. I wasn't aware of any cartoon series, though. The image this startling revelation has concocted in my mind is something of bugs bunny meets My Little Pony....oh - the horror, oh - the pestilence, oh - the delicious pineapple smoothies!!!

Great, a WD fan! Why is it so hard to find people that like the same things as me?
When I first saw the film, I'd only heard Watership Down being reffered to, like you'd hear someone saying "it's like bloody Watership Down out here". So it became something of a legend that I just had to watch. I've seen the film 14 times, and read the book 3 times.
The cartoon series, well I'd better not try fooling myself. It's aimed at children, OK? That's why the animation is crap and the storyline has been torn apart. To provide something that an 8 year old could understand.
But it still doesn't explain why the rabbits look more hares and spend most of their time on two legs.

I love Watership Down - but I'm happy to say that I've never seen the film or TV series - I remain pure!

Hey, the film is rocking! It's a milestone. Have you been put off watching it, or do you just feel that it's your duty as an avid reader of the book?

Films are never as good as books. And my sister watched it and got really scared by the nasty rabbits at the end. So it's a complete no-no.

Agree the first point. WD was my first experience of watching a film of a book, and actually knowing that this film had come from the book.
Actually, I lie. I saw the film first, and then read the book. Of course I was very surprised when the book differed to the film. Of course, now I am much more enlightened
My sister cried when she say WD...I tell everyone that *^_^*

Sisters, eh? They should never be allowed to watch films - they always end up crying or getting scared. Tch.
Have you read anything else by the author-guy? (I forget his name - is it Richard Adams or something?) By an eerie coincidence I've just started reading "The Plague Dogs", by him. It's about dogs, surprisingly.

Yeah, Richard Adams.
I read Tales From Watership Down. It's not as good as WD. Can you beleive the old battleaxe had his writing swayed by political-correctness? That's why Hyzenthlay gets appointed Cheif Rabbit with Hazel
Adams isn't quite my sort of author...

Yeah, I mean, WD is just basically about rabbits having adventures, isn't it?

More than that, brother. They have adventures, they moving, tragic and exciting adventures. Then there's the Big Picture deal, the way WD is reflected by us irl. Dig?
