I got 76% for the autoethnography on my divorce, which is a Distinction.
Z, I have to say, was not awestruck by this because it didn't include statistics, p-values or double-blind controlled trials. Peed-off values, yes, double-blind drinking sessions, maybe, but no stats, which means it wasn't Proper Academic Research.
Anyhoo. Autoethnography is the study of yourself in the context of the culture which surrounds you, or self-indulgent twaddle, as Z puts it, with some justification I have to say. And I certainly took a flyer by choosing my divorce as my case-study and quoting my journals and poetry (and even a couple of h2g2 guide entries wot I rote). But my tutor loved it all.
At least Z can take comfort in the fact that I didn't render it as an Interpretive Dance.
And now I have nothing to do but teeter on the edge of the precipitous abyss that is my dissertation.
Eeeep.

To be fair I don't think I ever used the phrase 'Self-indulgent twaddle' as my opinion of your essay.
I did read it and thought that it would either get an 'A' or a fail, because there was a risk that the tutor would think that it was 'self-indulgent twaddle'.
