Off to France tomorrow

Putting all of the sad stuff to one side I'm going to Bordeaux tomorrow with Mrs V, Mrs V's sister and her husband. We're going to the Bordeaux Festival.
I'm driving to the airport - which means I'm going to have to drive back from the airport (Luton) so I'd better be careful on the last day.
"H'excuse me sir would you mind a-blowing hinto this breathalysing receptacle?"
"But hossifer I can't be drunk in Hengland becaush I did all of my drinking in Fransh."
It would be terrible if they had to pay duty on me at customs as I was recategorised as an alcohol container.
Anyway, I may not be online after today until Sunday or early next week. ... Or when the headache goes.

Lovely time had by all. The laser show and fireworks were brilliant and it was fun.
When you pay to get in you are given a wine glass in a Velcro fastened bag that you hang round your neck and a book of vouchers to exchange for tastes of all the wines. They lay on entertainment and did I mention wine? We found that the game was to try and get tastes of wine without actually handing over the voucher. Some didn't care while others were very fastidious. As it's on the Banks of the Garonne river you have a lovely watery view while you drift gently into oblivion. There was a Mexican Tall ship there and you were allowed to have a look round. The Mexican sailors were immaculately dressed in white uniforms and big smiles.
They wouldn't let me climb up to the crows nest so I had to go and drown my sorrows at the nearest wine tent. In the main bit of the city they had the food tents with a huge range of cuisines which, of course were very attractive to a group of Brits with the munchies.
The flight back was slightly delayed by the lack of immigration police at Bordeaux airport. It's funny watching Brit Psychology at work - especially when it involves a queue. Someone thought they heard something and within seconds 100+ people had organised themselves into a queue in front of the empty passport control booth.
I remained comfortably seated wondering what herd instinct had driven these people to give up their hard won comfy seats to stand. Sure enough nobody came.
45 minutes passed before the police arrived by which point everyone who had been seated comfortably in a proper chair before they moved was now seated uncomfortably on the floor, crammed together frightened to move in case someone else took their place in a queue - for a seat on an aeroplane that would be only half full.
I love it.

Yes, the weather was superb and the trusty straw hat came in very useful!
