I've been wandering about the h2g2 EG Enties and came across this: A206443 Hell.
But for some strange reason we don't seem to have one on it's direct opposite, Heaven.
Anyone wiling to fill that gap?
(I'm a trifle busy myself at the moment...)

I'm not really here Posted Aug 26, 2006
I just found this - I'm not sure that the 'Hell' entry would be accepted into the EG these days, not written in that style anyway, being ficticious and all that. So an update for this one first, before anyone starts on its fictious opposite?

Not just one fictitious opposite, just like there isn't a singular fictitious version of heaven. There's a wide variety of the things. Easily as many as there are religions (or even sects/cults); but perhaps not quite as many as there are humans. Especially since you can at least rule out atheists from making up any (apart from in literature etc and as spoofs, eg whatever goes with the FSM).

Heaven might be a subject to do an entry on. The current one on Hell seems to be in need of a major overhaul.
Mind you, I'm with JPS who wrote in Huis Clos 'Hell is other people'.

... mind you, there does seem to be a perfectly adequate entry in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heaven

I just said the other day; it seems asif the world is gliding into
religious wars and crusades.
Well, I have bought a horse and iron outfit, but I do not know for whom I am going to fight. "That depends on what kind of heaven they have to offer".
So I'll wait and see, what yours will be.

i think everyone's perception of heaven and hell are unique to the individual....my perception of heaven would be different to anyone else's. i know what 'my' heaven would consist of but that would be far different to the next person, and likewise, my hell. i have learnt that not only are all religions fundamentally wrong and corrupt but they are also within their own right, correct. they all have points that seem to be correct, but they all also have parts that quite simply appear wrong. many peoples perceptions of heaven, hell and religion are in reality just their interpretations of words written by someone else in holy books and scriptures. god, heaven and hell do exist but only in a way that you percieve, in a way that is unique to the individual

I'm convinced that heaven and hell are here and now - and an awful lot of people live in hell. It's a state of mind.

I'm with the heaven & hell here right now school of thought. Hell the not knowing, not want to knowing and the knowing and accepting as instructed. And heaven just next door. At its best not harming, and at it's lowest the superior preaching back to hell in mind.
I'll read that again. Makes sense to me.
