I used to work for the Police and one of my co-workers was engaged to a guy in the ARU. Him and his boss once got an absolute rollocking because they were checking their kit and left a pack of bullets on the car roof as they drove off.
They only found out when the got back to HQ. They spent the next few hours going back to try and recover them. They found all but 2.
