Hello, we can't discuss individual moderation issues on site, but if someone has been banned - and we never issue a ban for no good reason - and that person just re-opens a new account under a new name to get around the ban (or being put on pre-mod) they are still banned. Sometimes it just takes us a little while to catch up.

We really appreciate the effort being made here to keep it nice and clean.

So there's no chance of them coming back despite the fact that they would behave themselves?

Bans are usually temporary, unless the researcher has been previously banned and continues to misbehave after returning.

Do you know how lucky you all are to have such individual attention from the Italics?

They really don't have the time to keep you all on the straight and narrow all the time. Their praise is given to those who have earned it.

Swearing and sexual innuendos can cause all Hootoo Researchers problems, as we found a couple of years back when we were put under the profanity filter with the rest of the BBC messageboards... Those who complained the most were those who didn't swear. It caused a lot of resentment here.

I understand where you're coming from and the fact that we have pushed things pretty far at various times. It's just that today things seemed to be going nicely.

Today was the first day we were all good Granted, it may have taken a couple of months to get there, but I think part of that was just down to the greater freedom allowed here compared to 606.

Now though, I think we were naturally toning it down anyway, because it's not such a novelty any more.

I know, but those who are hidden have pushed the boundaries too far. They need to reply to their last moderation email. Sometimes the Editors will negotiate how long the suspension will last, with the proviso that nothing similar will occur again.

Opening new accounts really doesn't help their case.

But good or not, someone who is banned is not allowed to come back, even under a different name. If they want to return, they must agree it off site with the Editors to get the ban lifted.
