I just want to say: B***ER! HOW could Lord of the Rings win??????????? I bet only about 5% of the people that voted for it have actually read the book. It's all cos of the films. Yeah, sure, the films are good but its supposed to be about the book! His Dark Materials so should have won! I can't believe Harry Potter got into the Top 5! Sorry, but I think Harry Potter is just BORING! It was fine to start with but JK feels she has to continue writing long books and as HP is so universally popular she doesn't have to make an effort in writing them, so just warbles out a load of rubbish! HP 5 was sooooooooo the crappest book in the series! All the books (apart from POA) have the same story line: Harry is at the Dursleys, something tries to stop him from going to Hogwarts, Hermione shows off, something bad happens to Harry, Voldemort returns, Harry fights Voldemort, Harry wins, the school year ends. I find that TOTALLY BORING! 1984 is a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good book. That should have got into the Top 5! I voted for His Dark Materials about 6 times last night! It only got to 3rd place! You guys who voted for Harry Potter are just in an obsessive phase. You'll pass it soon enough. I did. Lord of The Rings didn't deserve to win. Yeah, Orlando Bloom may be gorgeous but he didn't write the book!
On a more happy note, just heard on the radio Saddam Hussan (sp?) has been captured. I hope they torture him slowly and horribly painfully, taking aaaages for him to die but in the most pain possible. He deserves that. He deserves worse than that. But that probably won't happen.

anyway i voted for the hitchhikers guide and i'm glad it beat harry potter
you are right, pple only voted 4 LOTR because they thought the movies were cool (which they are) and they'd probably never read the book (which i have to say IS actually quite good, and under other circumstances may have deserved to win)

Atari, you're right, thats the main problem, because of what he has done we feel he doesn't deserve to live himself, but if we torture him we are hypocrites (i'm sure thats not how you spell it but i'm following you) So infact we in deep shite, as a country we ourselves hadn't a proper reason to attack him other than 'amercia asked us' and as a country we are against the death penalty.

I can't believe HP got there. It's just so crap!
I didn't really mean what I was saying, I was just using my sick mind in a different way. I like picturing people being totured. comes with the homicidal urges. I don't seriously want people to be tortured, I just like imagining it. Reading 1984 made me realise just how horrible torture really is. No one deserves that.

lotr is actually very badly written, you'll see if you read it carefully. people only voted for it cuz of the movies (which are good though).
harry potter's individual books are good but the whole scheme of it is getting dull.
saddam was hiding with a taxi. i don't get that.

It's not just LOTR, he created a whole universe, another language, and wrote several books (The Silmarilion, The Unfinished Tales of Middle Earth, The Hobbit and many others) which expand upon Middle Earth.

that, btw, was a good part of what he wanted the silmarillion for.
the only full language he invented was Sindarin. he also had Orc, Quenya, Elf, and Dwarf (all based off Sindarin). among others.

But it's a Christmas song so I can only listen to it when it's Christmas. At least with Too Lost In You I can listen to that all year round!
